What perfomance parts if any are available for the lifan 200cc fml 163 engine

So I'm looking in to hoping up my engine in my lifan xpect looking for mostly cams and higher compression piston opptions I also plan on porting the head. the engine in the xpect is the fml 163 also known as the cg200 and from my reading the engine has been around for quite a while the engine has a bore/stroke 63.5 mm x 62.2 mm and a 9:1 compression ratio. I know all this probbly wount amount to much but it's impossible for me to leave anything stock its the tinkerer in me. Now I know the fule injection will be the biggest obstacle in all this but I'm determined to figure something out.

So I've been scouring the internet and have came accrost a few things it seems back in the late 70s to mid 80s honda had some engines with 63.5mm bores but the stroke is not the same as my engine would any 63.5 mm piston work in my engine despite the diffrent stroke or do both have to be the same.

Most any mod that fits the 167FMM will work on the 163FML including carb upgrades, pipes, etc... I bet the cam and 4' key may work also.

You really need a piston designed for the engine that you have. Honestly, you could get a little more with a high compression piston (though you could also just deck the head, too, but you're better off getting the key that 2LZ mentioned, you could get a cam like Megadan, and you could port/get the head ported.

Pistons theoretically don't need to have the same stroke to work, but there are other variables, like wristpin diameter, compression height, height above the wrist pin, combustion chamber/dome shape. All of those factors mean you can't just buy any old piston.

I'm starting to think decking the head would be the easiest way to gain compretion. as there are so many variations when it comes to these China engines it becomes kinda hard to figure out what will work. And we're would I find this key 2lz mentioned and I'll dig through megadan's thread were he did the cam swap I believe he mentioned were he got it from in there.

Hello all, I wanted to ask if anyone here has added the CG250 jug and piston to the 163FML Lifan 200cc motor? I was thinking if it would work give myself a 50cc boost. I have to probably change the piston and rings anyways.

Thanks M

It's not a direct swap of parts. So no you can't just interchange all the parts. Rods and wrist pins etc.

It would be cheaper to just get a complete CG250 167 engine than try and modify a 163.

Though if you're after performance a CB250 single cylinder might be a better option.

Ok I'm gonna be cheap then.

Would that work if I were to just replace the piston and rings or could is there a better replacement like a Honda or Yamaha piston?

Thanks M

To the OP

As others have stated, pretty much every mod the CG250 uses the CG200 can also use. The cam I have will work, the exhausts will work, etc. The CG250 and 200 actually make basically the same horsepower, but the 200 revs out better where the 250 falls on its face, but the 250 has a bit more torque in the low end.

You could also add a CG250 cylinder and piston, but as somebody else noted there are other variables at work than just the bore size. For one, the engine cases may need to be machined to accept the cylinder as the outer diameter of the sleeve is likely larger. This would require a full tear down of the engine to do so.

If it were me and power was my goal, the larger bore would be last on my list. Bang for the buck, a cam is actually the best option. The cam I have basically enhances the current power curve the motor already has. There are other cam options geared toward better mid range and top end power as well, but may require some minor machine work to the head valve pockets for valve overlap clearances. Combine a cam with a proper ported head and a freed up exhaust system and it will feel like a different bike.

The CG 200 alongside the CG 175 are the "unpopular" ones, so not as many parts as the ones for the 230, 150, 125.

The top end of a CG230 is not a "plug and play". It can be done and depending on how you work it out, you may need a new crankshaft too.

99% of the CG200 i have seen the wristpin diameter is 15mm.
99% of the CG230 i have seen the wristpin diameter is 16mm.
Just to name one difference.

The top speed of the stock CG200 is similar to the top speed of a CG230. The difference is that the 230 has a bit more torque.

Before you even try to get an oversized piston, mod everything else and compare it to a stock cg230

It should be correct but the only way to be sure is to inspect and measure the original parts before making any order.

Also be aware most of the piston replacements are the same online but the ring gaps can vary depending on the advertised bike model*
