Can any dirt Bike be made Street Legal?

I see lots of great used dirt bikes out there that are in great condition. But, they are not street legal

Can any dirt bike be made to be street legal? Can you just install lights and a plate and be good to go?

It's going to depend on your states DMV regulations. Here in Louisiana all you need is clear title or MCO, working brake lights, turn signals, Headlight, Street legal exhaust and DOT tires. After that you will have to take it to the State police and have them inspect it. Vin needs to be stamped on the frame. If it passes inspection, it should be clear sailing. My Hawk came with Motorcycle on the MCO instead of dirt bike, so that made it much easier to register. I didn't need to get it inspected.

In my state - no. It needs to have been made for import as street legal, basically. That's the long and the short of it.

check your state. Here in NC they don't allow it. some states do though as long as you add the lighting necessary to be street legal.
