Buyer beware txpowersports.com

I purchased a hawk 250 "street legal" dual sport from txpowersports.com They refused to give me any documentation or title it in my name. These are indeed street legal with a vin number on the frame. It is illegal to sell these vehicles without title. They charged me for ttl and kept the money.

Do not buy anything from txpowersports.com!

Hello and welcome.

Did you get your sales receipt, bill of sale and certificate of origin? The bill of sale and certificate of origin are usually mailed to you a couple weeks after receiving the bike.

Adjuster is correct. You don't receive a title when purchasing a new vehicle. You should receive a bill of sale, and an MCO (manufacturer's certificate of origin). After you take these items to your local DMV, and pay all taxes and fees, the government will send you a title for the vehicle.

What was the date of purchase and the date it arrived?
Although NOT the " normal ", some places, as I have experienced,
can take up to 7 or 8 weeks to get the MCO mailed to you.
But I will echo the 2 weeks on average thing.
When your MCO does come in, just take it and the bill of sale to
your local county clerks office and getting a tag should not be
an issue. Then the state will mail you an official title in the mail
once that is done.
Takes a while, but look at the THOUSANDS you have saved over
buying a $5800 Honda CRF250. :-)
Happy trails. :-D

I know in Maine the MCO and bill of sale are all you get any bike over 300cc after doing all the paper work and title application at the DMV the state issues a title . Under 300cc there is no title issued you just keep the MCO.

OP said he was charged TTL, and Tx powersports does provide that service.

My instinct is that he got paper plates and will receive both the title and real plate in a few weeks.

I hope it means he had a civil conversation with someone at the store who advised him how the process works.

Kinda hard to come down off the flaming podium at that point.

Its been 6 weeks. The MCO was blank, no BOS, no paper plates.
Sorry I didn't hang out on this website all day. I totally bailed on this serious commitment and had a life on the same day I posted a buyer beware...I'll be here always from now on

Did they ship this to you or did you pick it up?
Something is definitely wrong here. Please if you could elaborate a little more

I'm sure you can fix this problem by working with the vendor. As you said, it's illegal for them not to provide you with the proper documents. If they refuse to work you, you can contact the legal authorities.

They have a B+ rating and have had issues but nothing that would flag a scam dealer.
I would really try talking to someone and getting this sorted out.

I wish we had a sarcasm smilie for occasions like this.

Now we are getting more details--6 weeks is quite a long time! There is some hope--contact the Hawk distributor--Adam Rinkleff. Not to excuse the dealer, but we did have a similar situation here several months ago with an online dealer. The dealer actually joined us, explained the situation as to waiting for the paperwork to come from somewhere (Siberia? Klondike?) and after 8 weeks or so, the dealer did resolve the problem.

If this was me, I would be quite angry, since I use a bike to daily commute. If I was ordering one of these Hawks, there is a good chance I would be expecting to commute on it within a few days since paperwork is easy to deal with here in AZ.

You don't mention which state you are in, but if it is Texas, there must be some sort of instant recourse?

Again, contact Adam Rinkleff from his own thread http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=15269
