New member with beater hawk 250

Hello. I just picked up a Roketa 200 for$50. Its pretty dogged looking. Havent heard it run, but baught it from trustworthy co-worker. Needs alot of tlc. It does turn over. Wiring is suspect. He said the forks must be turned full lock right for it to start. Kill swith does nothing. Came with a milk crate of parfs/ plastics.
In my mc arsenal i have 1 1971 yama xs650. 2 1980 xs650's, 1 1972 honda xl250, 2 1990/91 rf600 parts bikes.
I am my own mechanic, and love wrenching.
Will i hate this bike? Will be happy with the results after fixing it? How many jugs of locktite should i buy right off? Lol
Took a while to figure out what it was, the title is filed away in the guys house.

For $50 if the motor is in decent shape you made one hell of a deal. Not a Hawk but overhead cam is a plus.

Agreed, that OHC motor is a plus. I have virtually the same bike, other than mine came with inverted forks. I haven't found a manual, but none is needed; just ask any questions you have here, and someone will respond.
The frame is a dead copy of an early XR200 (not the R version), so I was making a street-legal XR out of mine. I then decided to go for the café look instead, but that project has stalled.

No worries. I moved it to the DS section for you.

The Keihin carb is stock. Some choose to run it, but jets can be hard to find. I choke on the 30-something dollars and run a 30mm Mikuni.

See the red terminal on the left rear of the frame? The box usually hangs there in front of a tool holder that used to live there, as well. The battery boxes love to fall off if beaten badly. They're just plastic holding a heavy battery.

I fabbed a new box for my bike and placed it behind the right side cover. I had to heat and form the cover a little, but it was worth it.
