Agreed, can't wait to get mine on. I almost went with the "gold" colored one... I think it would have been a little over the top on the eyes

I belive that's been described as liquefied clutch. Saw it on mine too, kind of shocking actually for me and was not expecting it the first time change.

Head Scratching J.I.S. Screwdrivers?

You may want to buy a set of J.I.S. Phillip's type of screwdrivers. I believe that J.I.S. means Japanese Industrial Standard. They have a more pointed end and insert deeper into the screw top. It's what I use on my Japanese bikes to remove the top screws from the front hydraulic brake and hydraulic clutch master cylinder caps. Sure saves a lot of stripped screw tops.
Maybe the Chinese bike builders copied the Japanese on using these fasteners?

These reservoirs were also overfilled in some cases, spilling a little brake fluid down into the screw hole, adding to the corrosion there. Not a huge deal, but enough to cause some extra difficulty.

It's funny how big a difference it makes using the JIS instead of a standard Phillips head when it's needed. I heard about them a couple of years ago and it definitely made a difference on my Hondas.

Old mechanics trick. If you feel a screw head about to cheese out, put a dab of valve grinding compound in the slot. Tool will grip.

It is pretty cool what some have done with these, right out of the crate.

nate and alyssia 2 up on 250? Now one might assume it will be ridden back from LA to NY? HUGE!

Along with the other fly and ride sale Joe mentioned, I guess this answeres the question of flying and riding home from the mothership which was posed a couple of months back.

I considered it with one way fares in the area of 40 bucks from my place to LA, but I'm glad I didn't. The main problems would have been the gearing (15t front) and the front brakes which were just plain awful and didn't improve until the brake fluid was replaced. Now I'd trust it a lot more and I'd be willing to take a long trip.

Agreed, I want to create a relationship with what I'm riding before I go all the way.

I have not done '2 up' with my TT250. I'm not sure I ever would, unless in a pinch with another dead bike.

I can't imagine the beginning of their ride. I know how drastically mine increased in rolling ability as it came to life... I would love to know their first 50 miles thoughts -- things like "oh my god, what have we done" or "perhaps we should rent a bmw" type of things...

I suppose I shouldn't be that harsh, I enjoyed mine right out of the crate but... two up while doing so? /shudder/

I took my wife out for a short ride on mine a while after I got the bike, and it was interesting. The motor did okay, but the rear suspension was definitely not up to the task. Mostly, I'm glad I didn't try it before my front brake was taken care of, or I'd have had to slow down some other way!
