Nibbi Racing PE30.
EDIT: Final Jetting for my bike with head porting is a 35 pilot. 135 main (132 in hot summer weather, 140 when temps dip below 50) and 1 7/8 turns out on the idle mixture (excluding adjustments for cold or hot weather extremes).
Since there seems to be a growing interest in this brand of carburetor, I figured I would go over the PE30 that I ordered in some greater detail. Below will be a video I made on said carburetor, but first I would like to say that, even though this carburetor is a much higher quality than the typical Chinese clone variety most of us buy you will still want to do what I did and take the carb down completely and clean it out. I found swarf and even some flecks of aluminum in the slide bore and from the bowl, passages, and carb body in general when I cleaned it. Do your due diligence and avoid potential headaches and damage. Tomorrow I plan on installing and getting this carb jetting dialed in and I will try to record some of it in the process. I will then report on what jetting worked best for me and my thoughts on sizing for a non ported head CG250 may work well. Now, on to the video!

Wow! That's nice and pretty. Now that's high quality there.

Dan, assuming the PWK30 carb was a Nibbi, would it be a better carb than the PE30? I was emailing the seller on amazon about the PE30, and he suggested to use the Nibbi PWK30 instead for the Apollo. I like the looks of the PWK30, but don't want to throw money at something ether. The intake/exhaust is still stock on the bike, with no current plans to modify it.

Performance wise there won't be much between them, although the PWK will have slightly better throttle response due to its slide type.

So, I got it installed. Good news is, any PZ30/VM26 clone cable will also work on this. I had to use the CQR intake, but it does work perfectly. Having the idle mixture and idle speed adjustment right there on the side is a HUGE convenience.
Bad news for me, the shorter intake was again a no go. I am going to assume that since I have a non factory head, the intake angle was machined more shallow than the Hawks. This is the same fitment issue I have had with the "angled carb adapters" So with the 48 pilot installed it started right up, but it needs alost 3 turns out to hold a semi-steady idle, so the 48 is too rich, and the black smoke from the muffler when I blip it would agree. That said, it isn't too far off either, because when it was dead cold it idled great, and tapered off once it warmed up. Almost like running with the choke on. It would seem they were not kidding when they said it was a high velocity carb lol. Once the bike cools off a little more I am going to jump down to the 40 they included with it and see how that does. Some research I did confirms this as well. More powerful 250's that came with a PE30 stock are using a 50 pilot jet.

That's purdee! Will your side cover still go back on? And how much for the carb and intake?

The jetting adventure continues. Putting the 40 pilot in definitely made an improvement. No more soot volcano and I was able to find a steady idle at a hair over 3 turns out. I am going to try a 35 next to see if that gets me at least near 2 turns out on the air screw. If needed I have a 32 if the 35 still proves to be too much, but I think it will be the ticket.. Talking with a TT250 owner that has a PWK on his bike, he ended up with a 30 pilot with the air screw about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 turns out I am thinking that the longer CQR intake is affecting the vacuum on the carb and pulling a lot harder on the jets requiring me to run smaller sizes than I would think I would need. The intake pulses are so strong it even rattles the round slide around a bit. Once I had the mixture somewhat close I gave it a rev and at wide open it immediately cut out. So the 130 might be too big, but given that the pilot is still on the large side I am going to wait to change the main until I know the pilot circuit is right.

A 38 or 39 pilot will probably do. I played around with mine over the weekend. I tried a 41 and was way too rich. with the 39 I was at 1 1/2 turns out. I had a 125 main in for the winter and with the temps now in the 90's it was on the rich side. I tried a 120 and was a little lean. I need to order a 122 and should get me about right.

I was going to let it go until I noticed this comment lol. Well does it?
And the idle knob is pretty sweet, that is a worthwhile invention right there. If it's only one carb might as well have a air/fuel mixture screw knob too. |

After looking at these two pictures It looks like they made a change in the frame design from the 2016 model or at least a difference in my hawk. I notice that the vertical tube frame ties in a few inches higher to the main frame than they do on my bike. That would explain why you having an issue with the intake I am using. Those vertical tubes tie in below the carb on my bike.

Hey so I am a complete noob and I'm getting my TBR7 in tomorrow and I have the Nibbi PE30 carb still in the box..which scares me because I feel like I'm going to screw something up already. Call it beginners anxiety. Anyway I read that the PE30 air filters are yucky but can't find a K&N filter someone suggested; I really like to order on Amazon. What Air filter can you recommend for the PE30?

50 mm is the outside diameter of the PE 30 inlet bell so a filter with a 48 to 50 mm mounting flange should work. I would suggest starting your own thread on your build for assistance.
