Gas tank problems

Having trouble with the gas tank cracking and leaking near the places where the side panels screw on. I have a apollo 250.... only a couple weeks old... anyone having a similar problem? Where can I find a new tank and is there a stronger one than I have now?

I had this happen when I replaced a screw with one which was a couple mm's longer. Used JB Weld to fix it. Seems to be holding fine.

I took the side panels off my bike (which is a Lifan) and screwed in some button head stainless screws that use an Allen wrench. One of the holes leaked the first time I filled the tank, so I wrapped the screw with some Teflon tape and screwed it back in as a temporary measure. That was four years ago and it hasn't leaked since.

Mine actually got a small crack in a couple places on 2 separate occasions... I think I've stopped both leaks but I'm afraid it's going to keep happening and I'm also afraid of gas dripping on the muffler and starting a fire... that would be my luck...

Yup. Got a used agb36 and poured a bunch of gas in and watched a bunch of it leak out. LoL

When the bike falls on those spots, those thread rods get pushed in and crack the tank.

I just got everything pushed back and put on gas resistant putty. Let it harden, sand ot, then coated that with JB weld. Seems to be fine.

Did a test run found another crack.... got it patched up... letting it set tonight and hopefully do another test tomorrow and with any luck that's the last of this problem.... any more trouble though and I'm seriously looking for a new tank.... preferably plastic so cracks will be hopefully less of an issue

I failed to realize we were talking about a metal tank. The tank on my Lifan is plastic.

Wow the tank on this thing is really crap... I got tired of patching and had it welded and it immediately broke around the welds and is leaking worse than ever. I have a new tank on the way but it's metal also, they didn't have plastic so I'm afraid of having the same problem

I've had much better luck brazing thin metal gas tanks than welding.

Yup. Braze it. Also the plastic fits different since the fram is different on the mounta so not sure if it would even work on yours.
