I tried a few things. I searched eBay endlessly, I thought about relocating the shock mounting points (so as to allow for a longer shock without increasing seat height) and I even removed the springs and put them in my 12 ton press. After giving them a little pressure, I tried heating them with a torch to soften them. That resulted in some really smelly paint burning off and somewhat softer springs. In the end, the kids outgrew the quad and I sold it.
