If it is not perfect, I can't tell...

With the exception of maintenance, I think I'm pretty well done modifying my BSR 250. When I first received it, it was having trouble keeping up 55 miles an hour in 5th with the throttle wide open. now 55 is the point where I shift into 5th. I only made limited changes and I'm really happy with its overall performance.

I added a digital dash. It is working great.

I remove the entire air box and replaced it with a cone filter. And then changed out the carburetor for the Mikuni. Running a 115 main jet it has power that the designers probably never even thought it would. I accidentally lifted the front wheel off the ground while leaving a light earlier today.

The real difference I believe is in the exhaust. $99? You've got to be kidding me!

It is a totally different machine now.

The only thing I really don't like about this bike is the front brake. It is not powerful and when I do use it, it loves to squeal up a storm. I would replace that if there is a better option.

Bike looks real nice. There are a few things that will help with the brakes. First clean off the rotors with a brake cleaner. There will be a light film of shipping coating on them. Second is to replace the brake fluid with Dot4 brake fluid. Not sure what comes with the bike but it will make a difference. If this doesn't help the third option will be to get a dual piston brake caliper like the Hawk and TT250 comes with. Should be a direct swap. The Enforcer comes with a single piston caliper.

"Second option", get rid of those cheapo rubber hoses and replace the brake line with Stainless/Braided/Reinforced hose before you bleed the brakes with good DOT4 fluid

I did clean all the parts when I put it together. I have brand new dot 4 fluid I just haven't put it in yet but I think I'm going to wait until I get a braided reinforced line. Good ideas both you guys.

Is the stock CSC tt250 brake line braided and reinforced? If it is, I might just wait until I get paid and buy the entire system for $90.

Thanks!

Yes, the TT250 line should be braided, and I agree, just get the whole assembly. Having an extra master and lever around can't hurt.

There is one more step you could take. It is a path only about 4 of us have walked down so far (Myself, Jerry, Silva, and Wolftrax), and while it won't make your bike go 100, it will definitely help with the top end power without hurting the bottom end. That would be to do a port and polish on the head.
My thread. http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=19200
Jerry's thread. http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=20410
Silva's Thread. http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=20362
Wolftrax's thread. (page 21, post 301): http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=15812

The stock ports are not the greatest. Especially the exhaust ports, as you will see in almost all of our threads. Jerry and I went to the more extreme end of material removal, but even less aggressive work like Silva has done will make a big difference.

Another good idea would be to fit an oil cooler.

Then there are also lighting upgrades. Headlight and Tail light - convert to LED.
I have this for my tail and brake light, it works great (Very bright) Trust me, it's worth the extra money. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...retrofit/2625/

LED headlight - take your pick of these, but if you are willing to spend a bit more than 12 bucks, these are really good lights, and the beam pattern is adjustable ( locking ring has indents with bulb base and can be turned) https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...ink/4444/9994/

Then there are LED turn signals, again take your pick. I love these, personally. Very bright and visible in the daytime, really good quality materials (mine have survived two layovers), and they look pretty good too.(link in thread) http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=19798

I appreicate the ideas. I only take a head off a motor if I have to.
The head light on the Bashan is the brightest I have even seen stock on a bike. Plus, my trunk has two additional tail lights. The only lights I would think of replacing are the turn signals. Those are very dim.

Just ideas. Even without a ported head these motors are plenty grunty to get the job done. I am just an endless tinkerer, and nothing escapes my grasp lol.

The Bashan/Hawk/TT250 headlight is pretty decent given the price point. Converting to an LED headlight isn't about brightness so much as it is about taking some strain off the charging system. These bikes have what I call an "adequate" charging system at best.

The best factory headlight I have ever experienced was the Daymaker on newer Harleys. The FZ10's factory projector lights as well.

I pulled the front brakes apart and the pads were not flat. A little sand paper and a couple sprays of brake cleaner and it is way better. No more squealing and way better stopping distance. We will see how long it lasts. If it does not stay fixed, I will replace the system with the CSC varient.

Thats the same cluster I will be getting for my Storm. Did it go in without fight or did it take some time?

All of the plugs are the opposite of what you wish they were. Where you will need a male plug you will find a female plug and vice versa. Regardless, I would still buy it again.

@skiforce, how did you set up the digital gauge and where did you but the alternate plugs. Is the exhaust better then the stock and has it made a difference for the overall power. Thanks

The exhaust is the best $99 I have spent on the bike. Huge difference. You will need to rejet the carb after installing it though. Tons more power.

I direct wired the dash using individual plug connectors on each wire. It was easiest that way.
