I will drill out the holes one size at a time. this will minimize drill friction. As for the air box, its going anyway. I plan on going with the angled pod filter. Only thing im worried about is the amount of heat coming from the pipe. might have to fab a new heat guard of some type

Yes, I think it was jerryhawk, a member on here. I still prefer the aftermarket exhaust. $130 for a complete exhaust is cheap compared to most moto slip ons. Last full exhaust I bought for a motorcycle cost me nearly $600 and the last slip on I bought cost me also $400.

thanks Ben just trying to get opinions not really a issue on money just dont want to piss it away if beating holes in the baffles and taking the spark plug arrester and cat out do the same.brand new hawk about 60 miles did all mods except exhaust and hit 58 on the new digital dash,i also put the correct tire size in the cluster, carb i feel is jetted right but maybe its because the bike isnt broke in,i weigh 165.

A de cat and muffler gut will work about as good as replacing the entire exhaust.

Well - Maybe. Unless quality control has improved a bunch in the last three months, the inside of the head pipe is usually a bubble gum weld disaster. That and the exhaust gasket that comes with the bike is pretty bad. I believe that the copper o-ring original Honda gasket is much better. And look into that head pipe area at the quality of the welds. Maybe you will decide a new head pipe is a good idea....ARH

ARH you are a true resource of knowledge. You remind me a bunch of my father in law. He is a super awesome dude. He is 92 years old and a wealth of info. He can get by with nothing. He still lives on the farm he was born on in the 20's. He gets up every day at 4:30 am ( I had no idea there was a 4:30 am I thought 4:30 was only in the PM) to tend to the Chickens, rabbits and other small animals. He got rid of the big animal about 10 years ago, cuz A-hole neighbors kept cutting the fence and chasing cow at 1:00 am sucks.

I swear if there was a massive EMP and we were all thrust into the dark ages my father in law might not even know. He still slaughters and grows his own food. They have a gravity well still pumping water. My 5 year old son hangs out with him nearly every day because I know if it beneficial to both.

I joke about almost everything but know that I'm listening and learning as much as I can.

For the Math experts out there the reason a 92 year old has a 5 year old grandson is that he started having babies at 50! well at least he much younger wife.

OK. Time from work is at a premium. I was able to take off the stock exhaust today. I assembled and temporarily installed the new exhaust. Waiting on the new Carb and Air Intake before i tighten anything.
I noticed when I took off the stock, there was no gasket. I installed the copper gasket with the new exhaust. the air box will be uninstalled, so all the holes will line up without obstruction.
