Just finished this years event. For the first time, the weather was perfect. Not hot, not cold, not wet, not windy. Perfect.

I wasn't even sure I was going to do it this year because of my knee. My recovery from the last surgery didn't feel right, more lingering pain than there should have been. Anyway, I gave it a shot. I also brought a good friend along who needed a distraction as his marriage just went down the toilet.

I feel better than I have in months. The knee popped once or twice when starting out, then everything fell into place. I also feel like doing something instead of sitting on my butt being board. n8(my buddy, Nate)said he rarely thought about the crap he has been going through while slogging up hill on a 50 lb bike.

This is one of those events where the journey and the camaraderie is more than the destination. Pics later. I've been shooting 35mm b&w with a Soviet era Russian camera and an older digital camera because I left the charger for my Galaxy S4 on the kitchen table, 350 miles away. Well, the b&w was planned, leaving the charger home wasn't.

Great Pictures, and a great hobby. It seems that you have some very good friends there, just like you do with us :-) I am glad that you are feeling better.

Lovely wingtips. What was the single malt of choice this time?

You spell better than I do.

Little story.

Sunday morning had a few of us up early. As the venue where we were having breakfast wasn't going to be open for at least an hour, we went trolling for coffee.
We found a little cafe open a few blocks from the brekkie site and the four of us sat down for coffee and stories. True or otherwise. We killed about an hour, paid the tab, and got up to leave.
As we were walking out the door, a couple of riders who hail from Manitoba were walking in. Taking the chance to practice my smartassery, I told Rob, "Sorry, they don't serve Canadians here". Rob knows me quite well and must have been expecting it because his snappy comeback was "Oh, okay. We just won't say 'eh'. They'll never know the difference since we sound the same".

Excellent.

I was training in Davenport 20 years ago, and we were milling around the shop at the end of the day, planning the evening activities. Most of us sounded the same, despite being from different sides of the border. That's when one gentleman (from the deep South) looked at us with a puzzled expression and said "Y'all don't sound different for furriners!"

I never had to try so hard to keep from laughing.

There are many reasons why I pedal. This is one.
