Yes that is exactly what it looks like. I'll try that and let you know. Thanks.

Put a new plug in and started right up... ticking really bad though. I'll have to adjust the valves.

How does the valve cover come off of these gy6 150 atvs? Removed 4 bolts and no room to remove it due to frame directly in front of it? Any tips?

Haven't tried that recently enough to remember. Perhaps the motor will need to come out.

Sounds like a big job. Having a hard time starting it. Bought the quad and the carb was off the machine. Some parts seem to be missing example rubber gasket at the top of carb where plunger gets screwed on, spring doesn't fit inside plunger, missing clip that holds needle in plunger. I have spark, runs for a bit, sputtering, than hard to start took off spark plug and it was wet. Too much gas?

For starters yes ... Sounds like too much gas but I'm thinking you've surely also got valve issues ....at least adjustment in addition to carb problems. Rebuild kit available?

Ya I am going to start with a carb rebuild kit. When I purchased the ATV the carb was not installed and looks like a few parts are missing. Which I am sure is part of the issue with the hard starting/ flooding. When I did have it running there was a noticeable ticking noise. So I went to adjust the valves... removed the 4 bolts on the valve cover and wasn't able to remove the cover as there is no room in front of the motor as the frame is right there. So it looks like the engine has to be completely removed to adjust the valves which seems like a big job. I might be able to move the cover over just enough to adjust the valves without completely removing the cover or the motor from the frame. Something I will attempt when I have more patience. My brother in law has a compression tester so I will get a reading soon. Looks like this winter I will be taking the motor off anyway to possibly do a rebuild.

After doing some research... and looking at pictures I just realized that I am missing a spacer between the intake and the carb. Could this missing piece be causing some of my problems?

some intakes have o-rings, but on this motor i think they use a gasket.

i m amazed they made this thing so that for adjusting the valves you have to drop the motor?

if u can smell fuel, can you see fuel? fuel line could be damaged. should be easy to find...

No I didn't. Bought this atv used and looks like the motor was removed from the frame for one reason or another. I am trying to find a replacement.

valve cover

I think I seen on youtube how to remove the cover for valve adjustment on this motor..... ... I would remove the motor to check for damage of this missing adjustor... your luck it might be in the cover where the rockers are.. who knows... or just turn it side ways,.... check the video also,.. you can get a motor but $$$.... no can get the parts thru multinational parts in KITCHERNER ONTARIO... that is who I buy my stuff... I get dealer prices... most stuff pretty good..

Thanks, I have been looking for a Canadian bases company that sells parts. I usually get my parts from Aliexpress.com but when I need/want something quick its good to know that I have that option as Aliexpress takes 30-60 days to receive products.
