Honda NM4

Sorry if there has already been a thread on this, I couldn't find one in the forum search .

Saw a Honda NM4 at the 2015 (I think?) motorcycle show. Honda was obviously pretty proud of it and was trying to make a grand impression with it sitting on grating with lights and fog coming up from underneath it...

When I first laid eyes on it I thought it was about the ugliest bike I'd ever seen Honda produce, and it seemed most of the people talking to the sales reps didn't seem to excited about the auto clutch.

Fast forward a bit and I've watched some reviews and did some reading on it, it's actually a very impressive bit of engineering! A sport and regular auto mode as well as a paddle shift mode if you want to stir your own gears. Awesome mpg. Floorboards vs pegs, and a built in passenger seat/ backrest!

I still think it's on the ugly side, but I wouldn't mind taking one for a rip! I would even seriously consider one but the price here is in the 15K CDN range.

Anyone actually ridden one? I sat on it at the show, but that's not the same thing... Lol

Had no idea what you were talking about so I Googled. Here is a pretty good review video. Pretty odd looking but that makes it unique. Personally I like odd, unique stuff not the norm.

Hmmm, PC800 v2.0.

Not meant as an insult because I liked the PC.

I'm not sure how they think the cruiser style mixed with modern technology/looks is going to play with those who are cruiser riders. part of their interest in that line is the old-school nastalgic look. I'd be interested in that if it was more of a sport tour package.

Yup, the PC800 was a seriously underrated bike! There was one for sale locally but by the time I had made up my mind to go and look at it, it was already sold! Kind of neat with all that storage! I remember on my Shadow I had to keep my registration and insurance card in my wallet as there was zero storage space on the actual bike!

The ergo's had a nice feel to the NM4 when I sat on it, pretty hard to determine what it would be like on the road though without actually taking it for a spin.

I kind of felt sorry for the Honda reps at the show, they were trying their best to introduce the bike and most of the die hard cruiser type guys were picking it to pieces.

That's the exact video that piqued my interest in the bike. The fellow seems pretty taken with it, lol . Odd looking works for me, since I'm odd looking myself! Lol

I'm just exploring bikes with auto's and floorboards these days. Wouldn't mind one of these but the price point is a little out of my range for the 3 months a year of bad sledding weather we get...

In all likelihood I'll probably end up with a scooter or something to scratch the two wheeled itch on occasion.

Yeah, the cruiser guys at the show didn't think much of it, especially the auto trans!

Even with the wild presentation Honda put out at the show, it still really looked like the ugly ducking amongst all the other Honda offerings there. Wonder if I have a pic of it from the show? The fog blowing up around it was really quite impressive!

Not sure how well it will do in the long run, it might just be a little too weird for the mainstream market... I've yet to see one on the road in real life.

Couldn't find my bike show pics, I've switched out phones and computers and can't seem to find where I put anything. Lol. Did find a stock pic though, the article described it as a maxi scooter. Odd looking is being kind, but I still kinda like it!

Different looking. . .

Not my cup of tea, but not ugly or anything IMO. I like the sweeping lines. To my eyes it just seems too long and has too much plastic all over. I like to see the engine, etc. and not a bunch of plastic panels. YMMV.

The only thing I really don't like about the NM4 would be that it's chain drive... I much prefer a shaft drive on a street ridden bike. Otherwise, if Honda wanted to gift me one I would take it! Lol

I'd take one of these as is, if Honda gifted it to me. I'd sell it, but I'd take it.

The nm4 has the same powertrain as the ctx 700 with the DCT.
I have a 2015 ctx dct and the dual clutch is really nice, especially when stuck in those areas of stop and go traffic. These bikes have a very low center of gravity and a reassuring to ride. Probably the easiest bike i've ever ridden. I mostly just go around in sport mode which is plenty peppy to beat the cages to get a buffer.

If I need to fight houston traffic for a meeting or something, i'll often leave the Goldwing or FJR at home and take the easy bike.

I think the NM4 is Sexy and would be sure to start a lot of conversations.. it's different in it's own weird way like a victory vision.

Then you should look at the Honda NC700X. Same engine and DCT.
But more sport/touring.

I think if it were red and gold it would fit right in with Judge Dredd.
Although the matte black one has been referred to as "batmans bike"
.
One thing it is NOT, , , it is NOT a scooter. Nope.
Complete motorcycle. Large tires, CTX & NC700 motorcycle powertrain
( like others have already said ), No step through or even semi step through.
Nopers, dat boys & girls is a full blown cruiser. If they were, , , say, , ,
$6999 USD, I'd say they would have sold better.
But the dealership 1-1/2 hrs from here got brave enough to order one
in last year and stuck a $11,xxx price tag on it.
That exact same bike is STILL THERE to this very day.
Well, , , as of a month ago it was anyways.

Just because of all the covers, it gets labeled as a scooter I guess.
