Honda SL175

Hi Chineros, I haven´t been in contact long time ago. I need your advice, I found a Honda SL175 1988 for 200 bucks OBO (below the images). The engine has less than 3,000 miles and been sitting for years. The seller does not have the title and the bike needs the bendix ($100). Thanks for your input.

I fell in love with this bike but you guys have the experience on rebuilding bikes. BTW, not sure how much money need to invest on it.

I would think its a 70's bike built before 1976 looking at the paint and the down pipe exhaust .Have a better look behind the headlight for a year .

It's a twin engine, but throw a 230 CC CG single into the frame.

Or a 250 CC Honda Rebel clone 2 cylinder engine

I´ve been searching and found it´s a SL175 from 1970 ´cause the serial number begins with 10, those bikes with serial number 20 were assembled in 1972. The only problem is the title, I want it to ride around city and highway.

Can you request the title from the government? I can do that where I live.

It's a SL175 for god sake.... they are as rare as rocking horse shit...
yer don't butcher them... yer do them back up to show room condiction...
Or sell it to someone that will..

Pretty sure thats not the right motor anyway....later model motor...
the SL175 had a points & advancer cover on the end of the cam shaft...
By 1988 the SL175 was long gone & forgotten...
sure it's a early 70s bike with a late 80s motor....

but would still be a nice bike... what ever motor it has in it...

Pete is correct, that engine is not original to the SL175.

So what you are looking at is parts of different machines, with no title, unknown engine condition (why an engine swap with less than 3k miles?) other than you know that the roller clutch for the starter needs to be replaced.

I understand purchases of the heart, but this is something you should turn and walk away from. Leave it for someone who has $2000-3000 to throw at it or won't need to register it.
