New biker - keen to learn mechanics

Hi all,

I received a bike off an elderly lady for clearing up her yard. See picture attached. I'm not 100% what the Model is but, according to the VIN it's a Yamasaki 2011 (doesn't say what model). Searching around, I think it's a YM-50. It's definitely a 50cc

Anywho, she gave me the bike with no papers, no registration, no key. She said it was her grandson's who bought it online from Poland with low milage but never got round to registering it here in the UK. It's been sitting in her garden for a few years.

I have no idea if it starts and have no key to check. I want to learn about mechanics so think this is the perfect opportunity for it. I want to find the manual for it but can't find it anywhere online. Anyone seen one?

Otherwise I'll start pulling it apart. My plan was to start with the ignition box to try and get it to start without the key. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard! Thanks for joining us. I' m sure if you post any questions you have in the street section you will get plenty of help. It doesn't look like it's in bad shape from the picture. Should be a fun project to learn on.

First major question, does it have a kick starter or only a push-button one?

My guess is that the ignition box will be fine, it'll be the carb that needs gone thru, if it's been setting a long time, as well as cleaning out the Fuel Tank...

Best of luck!

sweet! For cleaning up the yard? Winning on that deal!

I thought from the title you were intro-ing into working on your own stuff and I was going to start with tools. Make sure you use the right tools. I don't know what set up you have but if you're really keen to learn, start with a good set.

Anyways, wish you luck on getting started and can't wait to see your progress!
