Hmm, I can't remember which way I did it when I first got my Hawks. What does it do if you do it the other way?

You are actuating the camshaft and rockers in the opposite direction, and you are introducing sloppiness. It doesn't make any sense to rotate the crankshaft in an opposite direction than the direction in which it always operates.

I adjusted it to 0.08mm with some drag on it. Is that OK? I have a 0.06 and a 0.08 gauge, no 0.07 gauge. I guess I could add 2 together to make 0.07mm. The valves had no, 0, ZIP, nada clearance from the factory. It is definitely ticky now. Sounds like an old chevy with a noisy lifter.

Valve ajustment

I adjusted my valves tonight, and I could not find a mark or notch on my case to line the mark up with.
So I just put the line in the center of the circle.
Anyone else have this issue or am I just not looking in the right place for the mark on the case?

I had the same issue, and did the same thing. I just lined it up best I could with the center of the circle.

I hope someone can correct me on this, but with a cam, do you have a few degrees where the pushrods arent hitting a cam lobe? So theoretically youd have a few degrees of freedom when adjusting your valves, right? Maybe im not thinking about it correctly though.

There are a few degrees at the base circle of the lobe, if that's what you're asking. Get the mark as close as you can to the center of the hole, and that's close enough for valve adjustment.

Yeah King, I was looking for that magic notch that you see in the CSC instructions but the hawk does not have that. I just eyeballed it, I think I will bring my adjustment down to the factory .005 from .008. I know some folks say looser is better because they tighten up over time, but honestly the procedure is so easy I will probably do it every 200 miles or so.
