Beast Starter rolls continually
Good afternoon everyone: This is probably really simple for you experienced people but has anyone came across a starter that would not stop cranking until you break the circuit?
I have a 2008 beast (just bought) and this is the problem I am not sure how to solve. I took apart the starter switch button and it does not contact anything unless pushed, so it seems to function fine. The fellow I puchased from has a switch placed between the battery and?? that can be turned off to kill the starter but then there is no power to anywhere else and I assume no power back to the battery. Thoughts? |

My best guess would be the starter relay/solenoid. Once you release the starter button the solenoid should be deenergized and the starter should stop cranking. That's the first component I would check
Edit: Doc beat me to it... Fastest gun in the west! |

Can I use a different solenoid - like off a honda atc or do I need to buy the GIO one?
Like from a salvage yard, that is, not new. |

For the most part a solenoid is a solenoid. The Chinese ones are cheap to replace. If you have the time you may be able to open up and discect and perhaps repair the one you have. Worth a try.

Alright, thanks a bunch guys, I'll give that a go and see if I can get it repaired, still needs a bunch of known parts, but this one had me confused, I know nothing about electrical.

last time I had to buy a new solenoid I think I paid like $15 from a local company here. CHEAP, why use a used one.
