Computer question.

I have a dell optiplex 755 refurb from Walmart. It currently has windows 7, but I keep getting messages asking me to upgrade to 10 for free.

My concern is that my computer may not be able to handle windows 10. I don't know that actual specs of ram and processor speed.

Should I upgrade or just stick with 7 since it works for me. I was using XP until it was unsupported and my last $50 dell gave up.

I'm running 10 on several computers and I haven't noticed any changes in performance, but then I just do stuff like this.
If I'm not mistaken, I think a diagnostic is run on your computer to see if it can support 10. I know that my 2 in 1 Acer that runs 8.1 can't run 10 yet, but both my Dell Latitudes do, along with my Dell Optiplex 7020 at work.
My old Dell laptop in the garage still chugs happily along on Vista.

I'd stick with 7 for privacy reasons if nothing else. I've also got an XP virtual that works fine.

This isn't what OP asked, but linux is generally the fastest (and free-est) on marginal machinery. Most linux distros will boot as a LiveCD so you can test drive them without affecting your Windows PC in any way. Some recommendations: Linux Mint, PClinuxOS, etc. Both are friendly and lighter than Windows. Did I mention free?

Free is good.

This is what Google says the system requirements are:

-Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster.
-RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
-Free hard disk space: 16 GB.
-Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.
-A Microsoft account and Internet access.

Not sure I want a "Microsoft account".

I'd say stick with 7 too. I don't actually need one more "independent observer", a.k.a. "big brother", poking around and making decisions of what I want for me!

Seven it is. I don't have any problems with it and I also don't want a microsoft account.

I tend to stick with older proven tech. XP served me well for many years.

I am far from an expert but when I read the user license agreement days before XP hit the stores I decided against upgrading to XP. Been using linux since and PCLINUX since it came out as a beta in 2007. No special needs for a computer and BILL GATES AIN'T GOT MY NUMBER! john

I agree with the others. I think you are wise to stick with Windows 7.
