The thing that really burns me :x :
Stick it to EVERYBODY, since a few got hurt.

Don't go after the ones that get their kid a bike, skateboard, heelies, etc, etc and then don't supervise them or teach them how to use the things  :!: :!: :!:

10 kids come into the ED with an injury from an ATV/dirt bike.
Only one was from a sanctioned racing event, had on correct equipment and her parents arrived with her :!:
The other 9 didn't have on helmets, no gear........and they were usually riding daddie's FourTrax 5000 4WD monster ATV, not a kid sized 110cc :!: :!: :!:
Parents arrive to bedside.........
What happened?
50%......We don't know, his friends called and said he'd had a wreck......
It's all I can do sometimes not to reach over the bed and wallop them in the head and yell WHAT WERE YOU THINKING :!: :!: ( the parental units, not the kids)

Rant over, thanks for listening
Bill

I just stopped in because I have been following this very closely and it affects all Dealers Businesses, as the public in general.

Its simply amazing to me that they can worry about the lead on a childs powersport vehicle but not the lead pipes going to the childs house.

I know a lot of people dont have lead supply lines going to their homes but here in my city it is very common and in fact my line from the water main to the curbstop is lead.
But they dont want to mess with that for some reason.OHH yeah thats because it would cost the city not the citizens(not directly anyway).

Or how about the coming ban on incandescent bulbs in favor of the fluorescent bulbs that contain mercury.Has anyone read the procedure for disposal of one fluorescent bulb.

Here are U.S. EPA’s guidelines for cleaning up a broken CFL: (Compact Fluorescent Light)

Open a window and leave the room (restrict access) for at least 15 minutes. If you have fans, place the fans in the windows and blow the air out of the room. Note: If the room has no windows, open all doors to the room and windows outside the room and use fans to move the air out of the room and to the open windows.
Remove all materials you can without using a vacuum cleaner.
Wear disposable rubber gloves, if available (do not use your bare hands).
Carefully scoop up the fragments and powder with stiff paper or cardboard.
Wipe the area clean with a damp paper towel or disposable wet wipe.
Sticky tape (such as duct tape) can be used to pick up small pieces and powder.
Place all cleanup materials in a plastic bag and seal it, and then place in a second sealed plastic bag.
If no other disposal or recycling options are available, private residents may dispose of the CFL in residential garbage. Be sure to seal the CFL in two plastic bags and put into the outside trash.
Wash your hands after disposing of the bags.
The first time you vacuum the area where the bulb was broken, remove the vacuum bag once done cleaning the area (or empty and wipe the canister) and put the bag and/or vacuum debris, as well as the cleaning materials, in two sealed plastic bags in the outdoor trash or protected outdoor location for normal disposal.

I'd say there is a far better chance of most every child in america coming into contact with a broken light bulb than there is a child being exposed to high levels of lead from a powersport toy.

Here is what happens when kids aren't supervised properly...

http://www.yumasun.com/news/accident...hild_dies.html

Makes the product look bad, because often, it's "I turned my head for one minute..." and so it isn't the supervising parent's fault, it's automatically the evil product's fault!

That is really sad culcune.
Totally the parents fault if it wasnt the atv it could have been the kid wandering into traffic when the parent looked away "just for a minute".

So what would you people have done in that exact same situation as told in culcune's link?? (I know what I would have done)

Maybe the manufacturers should offer or build in a device that is tethered by radio waves to the parent or parents quad and shut the childs atv down (in a controlled-loss of power way) at a predetermined distance or at the parents command.
Instead of the stupid alarms and remote start crap although a horn or loud beeper would be OK to help locate the kids quad.

The tether cords are OK but wont stop the kid if the if the kid is out of the parents sight.

The lead in/on childrens toys is serious but I dont see how that can be applied to a kids powersport toys.

I do think that some of the kids ATV's had remote control kill switches, but not sure how well/if they worked. Lead should not be an issue--it sounds like an easy excuse to start socialist agenda! I can even tie it into conspiracy theories--who is the predominant consumers of powersport products?

I've said it before and I'll say it again...ANYTHING is dangerous in the wrong hands. Kids need to be trained how to use these properly people just let kids go nuts on a machine they have no idea how to operate. What do they expect to happen, Sadly it is the kids who suffer the injuries. Just because something can be dangerous if used wrong does not mean it should be banned, And if paint on an ATV is harmfull if eaten perhaps they should ban the paint not the bikes. But it's the liberal way to overeact.

The whole banning of powersport vehicles to kids under 12 because of lead levels in/on parts is just absurd and I cant believe it got to this point.

It makes me wonder what else is next.

I wonder if guns have lead in the parts/paint/steel/coatings and are they gonna be next on the banned list to make the world a safer lead free place.

Only if guns are sold to kids 12 and under.

The EPA wants to declare carbon dioxide a pollutant. If they could clear all CO2 from the atmosphere then all plants would die as well as living beings. Yea, our government is so smart.

Incandescent light bulbs also provide heat, which here, means using electrical energy, generated from hyrdo-electric dams, where as many people use natural gas heat for their homes.... I know they don't do a whole ton of heating, but it does provide some... I think the cfl lights is sort of a bandwagon issue... There seems to be a lot of that.... Penn and Teller did an episode of BullSh!t on Environmental Hysteria.. I think the term they used was joiner?

It's interesting to see that we must have two different viewpoints at least on this forum, in this topic, it is predominately the stop banning everything you've gone too far crowd, and then we have the topic of sport/super bikes where we have the these aren't safe, why are they allowed to be sold, do something crowd. Everyone is entitled to their opinions though, I am just observing.

Scroll down to the 50s. Temporarily not available.

The crf50 is not even listed on Honda's site.
Where are your papers! These papers are not in order! You will come with us, schnell! :x

Here is another link where you can conveniently send your elected representatives an email telling them to remove the ban.
