Need American lifan help quick

I still haven't recieve my title and I got a call from the seller today saying he needs a NHTSA number from the swingarm label. I split brake fluid on mine and it is no longer readable.

Someone with an American Lifan be able to look at theres and see if there is a number.

A NHTSA number? Dose he mean the VIN? It's stamped on the right side of the steering head and the left side engine case near the oil screen plug. If that's not it, I don't know what it could be as that's the only unique number on the bike.

Not the VIN. I am not sure. I emailed him that picture and and told him that there was no number, but it says meets all Federal Safety regulations at time of manufacture.

I am going to meet him at the tag office tommorrow to get it straighten out.

Strange - we've never needed that type of # for anything.

I think he misunderstood and they just want to be sure it says that it meets federal standards.

I am going to the tag office with him so that they can see for themselves the bike and all appropriate stickers are in place. Hopefully this will be my last trip.

Good luck brother, with all the milage you've been racking up I thought you had your plate already. I have no #'s on my swingarm. Mike/

I do have a plate that is registered to the bike with insurance. They just haven't been able to verify the vin# yet. I am thinking that they might be trying under the wrong manufacturer.

I am sure we will get fixed.

Frostbite. I know this should be in the registration issues, but I needed help fast and more people stop by here first. You can move it.

Went to the Tag office this morning with the seller and the bike. Parked it right out front. The seller had all the paperwork. I brought my registration and insurance.

DMV lady came out and looked at the bike, showed here the sticker on the swingarm that states it meets Federal Standards. We went back inside and see spoke with someone in the back.

Person in the back says the sticker with the "decal" number they need is suppose to be near the steering stem area. There is no sticker up there.

It is the one on the swingarm they need. Not sure what the number is, but it may be the EB0001 in the corner.

I checked two honda and a kawasaki I have a home for the sticker. All of them had it near the steeering stem and have the same info as the sticker on my swingarm. I didn't find a decal number, but the honda have a very small number in about the same spot as the EB0001.

The seller has a custom/used harley shop. He checked a $20,000 Harley. Found the same info I did on the hondas.

I called Brian @ motoxtreme to ask about location and he said that the swingarm sticker is the proper one. The LF models I believe had it on the steering stem area. Still don't know what number they want.

I want to keep my bike(I have done so much to it and the 08 will be out soon), but the seller has put out there as worst case that he will buy my bike back if needed, but we need to figure my usage.
I would rather part it for you guys too.

Anyway, the seller is still working on it and I going to have it verified will a police officer.

My next bike will be from Brian.

Thanks everyone.

Allen

PS here is the a Honda decal.

I have something like that, But it is attached to my front frame rail..I think it is like Your sticker though, only made of metal. It states the company and other info about the bike. I don't get what the DMV wants.....You have all of the paper work You should need.

I am still thinking they have try to list it under something other than Lifan or American Lifan. I just don't want to have to start over with another bike, but if it means possibly getting an GY5 or better than maybe.

I have just put so much into this one, but I can put it back to stock an give it back if needed.

KBB retail on a GY2 2006 GY2

I looked up the label on NHTSA website and it doesn't say anything about a dacal number.

It did say that it was suppose to be located on the steering neck or close to it.
