Which Honda is the Pushrod Engine Cloned From?

I asked this question in another forum, but I haven't seen a response yet. The original Honda pushrod engined bike was posted somewhere on here, but I can't remember what it was (I think it was a 125). Any ideas?

Here's a decent valve adjustment tutorial for the pushrod Honda clones, and it applies to the Beast atv as well: http://hondacg125.awardspace.com/valve_clearance.htm

I believe that the cg was never imported into the US. It appears to be the basis for most of the CB engines.

It's big in the UK and Brazil, but I've never seen one here. I'm certainly happy with the pushrod platform, especially in an ATV.

Can't see why you wouldn't be.... OHC is way overkill in regular everyday applications.
Honda makes/made a 300cc (?) in a pushrod engine in an ATV.

My pushrod engine performed just fine. Simple.

So far so good for my CG229 in my Dong Fang bobber at 800 miles. Sure is easy to adjust the valves on it.

I believe that they are both fine motors and both are proven bulltproof.
Let's not forget....the original old Honda's that came to us, way back in the early 60's, and all they way along, were basically all OHC, so they've been building them forever in that format.

This is what I thought of immediately

You see a lot of these in Mexico, especially doing delivery, like pizza, and Chinese food. Yes, Chinese food in Mexico.

I like it, suprf1y. The solo seat and carrying rack are great ideas. Too bad it's $2441.00 Canadian dollars. I could see something like that selling here if the price point was a little lower.

Good luck with that. If Honda sold them here, they'd be $3999

Last time I was in Mexico, you could buy a brand new Yamaha A 100 for $1100 from the local dealer.

Kato you are correct that Honda has not ever been in the USA, it isn't in what I call {The Honda Bible} "Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide" that contains All Motorcycles, Scooters, ATVs & of course the Odyssey & Pilot, {no they are not automobiles} since 1959.

W&G, FastDoc, I guess I stand corrected as Honda did make a smaller bore Vertical Push-Rod engine. I have not ever seen or heard of this bike pictured above prior to today. The only ones that I have ever seen are the Cub 50s, CA110 Sport 50, Trail 90s, CA200 Honda 90 & last but not least the Qa50.

Yes there are a lot of Honda ATVs that are push-rod engines... TRX250EX/ES and most of the Utility ATVs are push-rod engines.

That is the same bike that 73 year old Simon Gandolfi rode from the US/Mexican border to Tierra del Fuego and then from Tierra del Fuego to New York.

His book is worth a read.
