That's a GY6, and most likely 150cc. There is a 250 version, but it's water cooled. They're very common in atv's and buggies, but they're originally designed for scooters.

Search GY6 on eBay for a ton of available parts.

Hi W&G....is GY6 a brand or a style/type of engine. I see the Dragonail site offers many units with GY6 engines. Should this inspire a little confidence or really make no matter. I want a unit for my wife so an testing the waters again.
Did I tell you I have a Warn bucket kit for the plow on my Kodiak. Best purchase I may have ever made on a cost benefit ratio.....waynec

The GY6 is a style/type of engine. Many different brands. They do come in long and short case and I think top and bottom motor mounts.

Hi Wayne! Thanks for chiming in.

As Allen says, the GY6 is a variety of China motor. It's loosely based on the Honda Elite 150 motor. We have a 150 quad with a GY6, and it has been a terrific machine. We bought it back in 2007, and it hasn't missed a beat (after the typical China machine prep).

The only issue I've had with the quad is wicked bumpsteer. The control arms are much shorter than the tie rods, so the wheel will pull to the left or right upon hard compression. If your wife (like my wife and daughter) rides casually, it's a non-issue.

Please start a new thread and show us your Kodiak and bucket. I'd love to see it!

Kymco <sounds like 金庫 kim-khòo (gold vault) in Taiwanese> loves cheezy commercial
<GY6> 豪邁's Mandarin: Háomài sounds like 好賣 hór māi (Good selling) in Taiwanese | <CG> 金勇's Mandarin: Jīn yǒng sounds like 真勇 tsin ióng (Real Tough) in Taiwanese.
