Congratulations, and welcome to The Cult of The Zong.

Actually, there are now 326 pages. However, you have 4 weeks to read all of it.

Hi there

I got my reuseable ones from Tabao, via an agent. You can also get the original ones from there as well. If you're in the states, why not uses csc anyhow?

I've looked, too.

It's not your average filter.

I bought a 6 pack from CSC when I ordered the bike.

Thumbs Up accessories?

Well, having time to heal and get acquainted with the new metal in my leg has given me time to read the entire thread. I've learned a lot, and haven't seen most of the bickering prevalent on the "other" ADV site, which is refreshing. As I solidify my order I have a couple of questions...is the aftermarket skidplate worth the extra expense and hassle (related to oil changes) or is the stock one sturdy and protective enough to run mild off road on? Second, What is the latest on handguards? I want the wrap around kind, like Moose or Tusk. I can ream out the bar for the inserts, but do they still hit anything plugged into the accessory outlet? Would 1/2 or 1" risers work to avoid hitting my charger if it's plugged in ? Anything new on the front with them? I'd get the CSC ones, but it's not the protection I need from a drop.
Lastly, I heard the orange is a different shade than the '15's with UV resistance...correct? I want the orange I am trying to time my shipment for when I am bipedal again.

how fast are these with the stock gearing? I noticed a lot of people changing the rear sprocket.

Top speed is about 84 mph, which is different from sustained speed.

I switched to a 13T countershaft (C/S) sprocket for more torque, which facilitates off road riding, and helps maintain speed while ascending long inclines at higher elevations.

I kept the stock skid plate.

I installed Tusk D-Flex hand guards, and Tusk handlebar risers. I also trimmed the ends of the handguards. Therefore, I do have clearance between the hand guards and the power accessory outlets.

Ron, keep it mind it is a 250 and with all the gear a bit heavy, at that. At most I weigh 150 and mine happily runs past redline in 6th on the freeway so I have to watch the tach and back off. Running the stock 14/44 gears.

Most Cyclone owners are gearing lower (higher reduction) to make it more user friendly off road in the technical stuff. If you are seeking an ADV that will do both serious off road and also blast down the interstate all day, then perhaps a KTM 350 or something bigger will better suit you. Of course you're looking a twice the price if not more. Just don't want you to be disappointed.

I'm probably worst case scenario weight wise and I geared the front to 13T which gets me a reliable 70-75mph by gps. With stock gearing I'd hit 79mph by gps on a flat with no wind but wouldn't want to cruise at that speed. Any hills or wind can knock you back to 60-65 worst case so be prepared for that on highways.

This bike really isn't a great choice if you need highway performance on a regular basis.

Another thing to consider is your really not going to pass people without huge passing zones past 55mph.

That said it's excellent off the highway and below 65mph.
