Trim repair ideas please

Broke two of the plastic clips on the gas tank trim. The clips that slide on to the metal tabs on the tank. Picture included below.

I've broken one of the tabs off on my Hawk because I forgot to unbolt the cross bar the first time I removed the tank. I used JB plastic weld and has held up for three years. I also repair plastics on my daughter UTV and still holding up after a year. Good stuff. Just make sure you clean the plastic with alcohol or degreaser and rough up the surface you are repairing.

Bend a piece of wire like this

Use soldering iron to melt the "tabs" on the ends into the plastic then cover your melty / weldy work with jbweld. Had the same problem on my magician when I had a stock tank. I used this to completely replace the plastic loop things. Hope this helps.

Wire thing not to scale, the shape for your loop thing may be different. Or you could try plastic welding with a soldering iron it's hard to tell what would work best from the photo as I'm not familiar with that exact bike.

You can also buy a cheap plastic soldering iron at HF, along with a pack of filler rods. IIRC, the package includes ABS, PP and PVC. Google how to do a burn test to determine the type of plastic you have and use the appropriate filler material.
Alternatively, you can trim off a sliver of plastic from an area that doesn't show and use that as filler material.

Megadan should have those panels and more that I left with him, contact him maybe if a near complete set interests you etc

Or plastic weld or epoxy etc might work too

Damn thats a good easy idea! I'm gonna give it a shot. Thanks for all the advice guys.
