Banff

Hey everyone, haven't posted anything for a little while. Too busy riding the DRZ, finally the cold wet spring seems to be behind us and summer is here.

On Canada day my buddy Moto (his real name) and I rode out to Banff. I made video of it which you can see here:

Yeah he does. He's a real adventurer, he came here on a trip from Japan when he was 18 and fell in love with the wide open spaces, now he's working on citizenship. His father was a famous motorcycle racer/shop owner in Japan hence the name. I didn't even know him, but he came and helped me get my licence by riding with me down the DMV when I just had a learner's and didn't know anybody who rode.

Here's an interesting story that says a lot about his character: After a long day out on the road we hit the pub in Calgary for some much needed refreshments, and I ordered a Greek salad with the "dressing on the side". The reason being, I am fat enough as it is and I find they always put too much on anyway. Well a couple of days later I came into the Sushi place where Moto works and ordered lunch which included a salad that normally comes with dressing on it.....only this time the dressing was on the side! If I order something like Deep Fried Squid Tentacles-"Extra Crispy" then they come that way forever after...its amazing.

Thanks for posting the link to the nice video, McKonker! Indeed, Moto seems to be a great riding companion.

I miss that area terribly.

You've got a riding buddy that works at a Sushi place? Good deal!

C'mon down! There are some great roads down this way. Some time this summer I want to ride down the foothills to Waterton. It's amazing, on one side the Rockies rising up and rolling grassland on the other side. We could do a ride.

Would love to but my single pa status keeps me pretty much rooted home when I'm not working. I would love to spend a day or two riding the highway between Jasper and Banff through the mountains, did it in a car but it's just not the same as on a bike

Cheers,
Stew

Amen! Riding a bike is much more fun than driving an automobile; it makes you feel like you are part of the landscape, and not isolated from it.
