Well, it needs a source of light to reflect so you'll definitely stand out if a car is faced towards you at night. We're not talking Tron here, but there are some Tron like items if you want to go that route. (i.e. LED strip lighting)

In the texas motorcycle course they said led stfip lights for decorating was a no-no in Texas.

But cops are so busy now days I don't think they notice much going on the roads unless they are specifically told to enforce something.
