You guys are off topic but my friend did have a Pacer "fish bowl" and the AMC Gremlins wanted it because they thought it contained water.

The point I was trying to make about AMC is that especially toward the end or their run quality control wasn't part of their business model. Every Car was a Friday Car. For those too young to remember when most cars driven in the US were actually made in this country, a Friday Car came out of the assembly line when workers were thinking more about what they'd be doing that weekend instead of what they were being paid to do. Which is one reason why robots do most of the assembly these days...

At any rate, many of the Hawk parts people complain about on this forum look like Friday Parts. That's because labor in China is still cheaper than robots. Which largely benefits we who buy their products. Although I've put about $500 into my Hawk (on top of the $1,400 I paid), it's still less than 1/3 of what I paid for a Suzuki DR200 a few years ago. And all told, the Hawk isn't much less of a bike that than Suzi was.

What? No comments about the misaligned rocker arm?

That's a good question. It looks like nothing is holding the caps, so I suspect they move with the swingarm to a point. It might be wise to take the assembly apart and slather it with grease.

Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like it may have the sleeved rubber bushings in the swing arm. If that's the case the swing arm pivot bolt should be tight enough (very tight) to keep the dust caps locked to the frame so they don't pivot with the swing arm. The rubber bushing itself should twist, not pivot on the swing arm bolt.

Looks like the standard rubber bushing design. Tighten that swing arm pivot nut to 50 ft lb at least and it should take care of your problem.
