No, the 150 is a single, those twins are 250's

Thank goodness! I surely wouldn't want a V-twin engine with only 150cc displacement.

Some of these Chinese motorcycles are starting to look very well manufactured. We have a new member from the Philippines who has a acquired a Zongshen 150GY-10C, and it appears to be a very nice, very well built motorcycle.

My 1972 CB175 is a parallel twin.

It's an OHC design with dual carbs though, and I bet it's driving a lighter bike than the V-Twins and it does have an extra 25cc, FWIW.

It can get out of it's own way, unless there's a hill or a headwind.

Those are important differences, Brother Bill. I would certainly love to own your CB175; it's a beautiful little motorcycle!

Little Sweetie (my nickname for the CB175) is indeed one of the best looking bikes I've ever had and I enjoy riding it a lot.

Even so I may still sell her next Spring, as its role as a commuter is easily filled by the KLX250, which is also freeway capable.

Also I have to figure out what to do with the BSA moneypit when I get it back form the mechanic...

I know what I would do with the BSA. I can summarize my actions in one word: adios!

Please forgive me, but I never developed an affection for British motorcycles. I prefer reliable motorcycles that run well, and are easy to maintain. Sell the BSA, get your money back, and enjoy life, Brother Bill!

Peru has a free trade agreement with China, so there are a lot of Chinese motos, I've seen GY-150's for $699 but the quality seems low. I agree there are some motos with good quality in the $1000 range all have great warranties. I've looked at several Chinese built cars and vans, quality looks fine, prices start at $6995 with a three year warranty, it's hard to believe that they can be imported for a profit at that price.

Is the GY-150 a different model from the ZS150GY-10C? The 150CC, Zongshen bike I am speaking about has Showa forks, a Showa shock absorber, and appears to be very well built. If you have time, please check the following threads and let me know if you have seen this same motorcycle.

Thanks for posting the information, and the photographs of the Chinese automobiles, OG. I would love to see you start a new thread on the Chinese autos in our Miscellaneous forum!

Spud,
Not the same moto, there are a lot of companies that have a GY 150 model. Some of them look good but the inexpensive ones look to be of poor quality. These motos are assembled here in Lima, http://www.tecnimotors.com/todoterreno.html
I'll start a China car thread one of these days. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, OG. Yes, the GY150 in you photo appears to be a typical Hondoid. The new, Zongshen 150GY-10C seems to be built to higher standards. When you have time, I would love to learn more about the Chinese automobiles. I eagerly await your car thread!

Awhile back I posted some information of the UM Xtreet, today's Correo (newspaper) had an article about it, the 180 and 230 should be in the Lima dealers next month. The 230 is oil cooled, the Correo says that the the Xtreet is equipped with 35 LEDS for visibility, here is a link to the UM video, I don't think I could get used to those Christmas tree lights on the tank. http://xtreet2012.com/

There was also information about the Davest choppers in the Correo, not my cup of tea but I saw one once and thought that the quality was good, here is a link, http://motosdavest.com/ Go to the chopper link, there is a photo of a SPT 350, a 350 road bike, there are no specs but looks like it could be a twin and it also has a oil cooler, does anyone recognise this moto?

The UM XStreet is a nice looking bike, OG. Maybe the LEDs on the fuel tank are a bit gaudy, but the increased visibility they afford will certainly increase the rider's safety.

Spud, yep, I really like the styling of the Xtreet.
Correction, the Davest is water cooled.

The Chinese are starting to make some interesting, larger displacement motorcycles. Up until this point, the Chinese seemed to be mainly interested in designing/copying bikes for their domestic market. However, it seems the Chinese might now be designing/copying bikes for a larger, western market. I wish the Chinese would manufacture a faithful copy of the Honda XR400R!
