As near as I can tell, that's a supermoto version of the Hawk. Most of the plastics look identical, and the engine cases even look the same. Look me up if you make it out this way and we can make some arrangements.

I doubt the quality is on par with SSR, but Zongshen does, indeed, OEM the Dongfang engines. Dongfang gets a lot of use out of the same engine as their entire lineup of bikes using the 229cc thumper is certified on the same certificate as far as the EPA/DOT are concerned. I am pleasantly surprised to see the 'SM' dual-sport being sold by a retailer, although IMO the price is a little steep. These are the bikes that use this engine... http://www.df-motor.com/Product.asp?...me=Motorcycles and http://www.df-motor.com/Product.asp?BigClassName=Dirt Bike

at that price point, I would pay the extra money for the SSR, Pitster Pro or TT250. Sometimes the name, warranty, and/or factory support are worth the extra little bit of cost. Just my 2 cents.

Sunright distributes the TMEC Enduro 200, but since they started selling them when Excalibur was also distributing them, they had two differences--they renamed theirs the 'Denalli XT200' and the Denalli is only available with 21/18" wheels, whereas the TMEC from Excalibur had a choice of 21/18 or 17/17.

However, in the past, I had found a possible connection between Dongfang and TMEC, so this particular bike could be TMEC-sourced, but they toss in the Dongfang 229cc engine certified by the EPA/DOT. You could be onto something, but no one on Chinariders has ever reported owning one of these, so we cannot confirm if there is a connection.

i really like the look of the xf250 but i am having a hard time justifying the 3k price that i seem to only find for them. i emailed csc and asked them about building it with 17" street tires and he said it would be an extra 800-1000. at this rate i may be better off finding a used japanese bike.

i may be crazy but i love getting that crate and putting it together..thats the best part! so that is driving me to go cb..lol

Well you could just get the stock rim sizes, put more streatable tires on it, then keep an eye out for cheap rims you want. $800-1000 is alot of money

I would suggest the pitsterpro lxr 250. Its running the zongshen liquer cooled 250 similar to the CSC cyclone 250s, from what I've read on them they sound like the bees knees as far as China bikes.

Liqueur cooled.... Why didn't I think of that. Not sure other the thermal dynamics of chambord but it is worth a shot.....
