Brozz v. Hawk for my needs.

Yes, Hawk v. Brozz has been covered pretty extensively, but when you dig deep enough, there's a lot of noise to the signal, so I just want to double check for my own needs. Please tell me if I'm understanding correctly.

Am I understanding that the Hawk, lower geared and with larger tires is the better performer off-road, and the Brozz with the taller gears, smaller tires, and balanced engine is more suited to the street? I'm a heavy man and plan to do about 94% of riding offroad on my property, private roads, private property etc., with any road use probably never exceeding 35. The lower gearing sounds like it would be better for carrying my heavy frame at lower speeds.

One of the (Motocheez?) videos I watched said that the balanced engine introduced less vibration to the system and helped prevent vibration induced failures. Is this the case? If so, is there any advantage to the unbalanced?

Also I'm searching and searching and don't see anything about racks for the Hawk. the Brozz has it beat there, Is there really not a rack available for the Hawk? I'm going to need to carry tools and whatnot for riding fenceline, making repairs, some sort of longarm - that kind fo thing.

So it's almost a catch 22 - it sounds like the Hawk would be the better performer for my needs, but the Brozz is better equipped to do what I need.

Any pointers?

Thanks for looking!

Incidentally, as far as other bikes go, I'm reading the Magician is smaller, so that's out, and the Storm had a better rack, but is a discontinued version of the Brozz? I'm still open to other models.

Gearing is a wash. Change sprockets to suit your needs. Sprockets are cheap and easy to do.

Rear rack for a tt250 bolts right to the Hawk with no mods.

Even with a counter balancer, the engines can still buzz bolts out, but fwiw, with loctite and just checking critical bolts from time to time makes a huge difference. I have had zero hardware failures on my Hawk in ove 2k miles.

All of your points are valid regarding the two bikes.
For your needs I would go with the Hawk.
The Brozz is for setup for the street.
Get a rack from CSC and you will be set.

What state do you live in? That may decide it for you.

Thanks for the advice! Think I'll go with the Hawk.

I live in GA - looks like a couple hoops to jump through, but not hard to get a tag.

As soon as I get the courage up to press the button, I'll place the order.

I am a heavy guy as well and the Hawk has more than enough grunt to get me around with MUCH taller gearing than stock.

I can give you some advice on brining the forks up to snuff to better handle your weight too if you do pull the trigger, otherwise you will bottom them out off road.

Yes! I saw something in my research about spacers. Then I saw a video on fork oil that showed the spacers relationship to the forks, but haven't reencountered the original spacer piece.

Would heavier fork oil help as well?

Thanks.

I'm seeing things about "dirt bikes ruining lights" and similar, because many are 12V AC instead of 12V DC, but I haven't seen anything specifically about the Hawk et al. I want to run a small 2M/440 radio.

Do these bikes run on AC?

Thanks.

After "sleeping on it" numerous times, I pulled the trigger on a new black Hawk today.

It begins.

Congratulations, I think you chose the right bike for your needs and I prefer black too!

Good luck on getting any rest waiting on it.

That's part of the beauty of a $1350 motorcycle. It won't be black for long.

Bah! I missed a phone call today - UPS Freight trying to schedule an appointment. That probably means if I call in the morning, I won't get it tomorrow.

Irony - I missed the call because I was clearing out a home for it in the garage.
