Faulty fuel tank

Got my db-36 together this weekend. Adjusted carburetor and reset valves. Put everything together and added just a little gas to begin with. Started it up and rode it around for about 15 minutes. Ran great! Filled up the tank later to go on a ride with my kid and gas started pouring out of the tank all over the engine! Hurried up and took fuel line off of fuel valve and drained the tank back into my gas jug. Took the tank off and found a hole right behind one of the tabs for screwing on the plastic to the tank on the right side. I'm going to call about a replacement in the morning but if it's going to be a hassle I'm just going to weld it up. Very frustrating!

Got a hold of dealer. I had to fill out a parts request and they are supposed to send me a new tank in about a week and a half. I thought I was going to have to send in the old one in exchange for the new one. But I can keep the old tank so I'm going to get it welded up for now while I wait for the new one to arrive.

Happy to see some of the dealers are taking care of the customer. That goes along way.

Well, I got my old tank welded up and I'm back to riding my bike! Called to see about my replacement tank and they are out of stock and have to order one. Sounds like it'll be a while before I see the new one. Glad I was able to get this one going. Would have sucked to wait for the new one to arrive to get going again.

Had the same problem. Went with a plastic tank. http://store.orionmotors.nl//product...oducts_id=1359
You will have to cap the sender unit hole(I bought a sender unit) and new gas cap. Works good! Stay safe.
