Gy6 engine qmj157 scooter electrical problem

Ok so I've learned a lot in a very short time regarding these Chinese scooters. My scooter is a 150cc bought off a guy who had no clue about CVT's. When I got the scooter the CVT was apart and the starter gear was out. It would turn over though, easing my mind of possible engine seize. I had to take the front head light and signal lights off to access underneath to work on other issues such as a broken brake lever and to replace headlamp bulb. I also had to flush all old fuel out and remove the carb to clean it. After reinstalling the carb I put fresh fuel in, and tried to start it but nothing not even clicks...silence! The hazard lights buzz but will not blink now (solid arrows light up on panel) the head lamps will come on but brights will not work, no horn, and my rear taillight does not come on now. What happened? Have I done something? I have researched this with really no clear "how to" figure this out. I'm a decent mechanic but as for electrical it is my kryptonite! Can anyone help me resolve this. Thanks
PS: I did change the rectifier out with a new one and it was no help.

Research the CDI pinout, disconnect the key-switch pin, verify spark, and kick start (or use a socket in a drill on the cooling fan). If the engine starts . . stop by disconnecting the trigger coil bullet connector from the stator. Then reference a wiring diagram and troubleshoot the starting motor circuit with a multi-meter continuity function.
