Parts arrived

Getting the top end buttoned up. New Honda rings installed with new piston wrist pin and clips, valves lapped in with new better quality seals installed, and new Honda dowel pin retainers for the camshaft end play. Timing is all set and ready to install the head cover with rockers and adjust the valve lash. New/used oil pump gear replaced also. I did take the oil pump out and inspect it and it looks fine so I'm going with it.

Thanks franque! I'm loving this, problem is once I get the engine all finished I have to wait to start it

I plan on removing the engine and stripping all the parts off of the frame so I can give it a good coat of paint. I'm going to need a seat cover and a full set of chain and sprockets also. The front sprocket is so thin I wouldn't even risk taken it out of my garage. Right now I'm at about $650 invested, I'm hoping to get it finished for about $1000.

I don't think your goal of 1k is too unrealistic as long as no big sirprises decide to appear. That was a great catch with that pump gear too. Pays to dig in a little bit sometimes.

I was very fortunate that the bad spot on the gear landed up, if it was resting down it would have been hidden by the cover and I never would have thought to check that, so I guess I was lucky on that one.
Yeah the $1000 is the goal but on my Brozz I wasn’t planning on extra expenses either and had way more into it than I expected. Oh well, a mans got to have some kind of a hobby even if it is spending money on things you enjoy

Making some progress, engine is rebuilt and back in newly painted frame. Forks redone with new seals and oil. new sprockets with nice red chain installed. Most things painted and ready, still have to paint all the plastic pieces. Bought a new seat cover and I will have to get new foam as well. Lots to do still

The wife said she will use it for something else, so I guess it's getting repurposed.

Another step complete, plastics painted and installed. I started the bike and fuel poured out of the petcock and oil was running on the ground from the right side of the bike. I ordered a new petcock and installed and that fixed it, no more leaks. The oil leak was coming from the oil filter housing. I had ordered an aftermarket filter and o-ring and the o-ring was a little too big and got pinched in the cover so I put the old o-ring back on and that did the trick. Took it out for it's maiden voyage red neck style, sitting on the frame since my seat isn't done yet.

It ran really good with no hiccups with the carb at all. The engine sounds really good and quiet but like most of these bikes the exhaust is a little loud. I will probably repack the db killer at some point. Transmission shifted butter smooth and the clutch seems good too. I ordered a new headlight and fairing piece and the seat foam is on it's way. After that maybe a few stickers and I'll be finished with it.

I installed the new headlight//fairing, I think it looks pretty good. the light is bright and it is DOT approved just in case i decide to go for street legal status. The seat cover turned out way better than i expected, the fit was excellent and it looks really good on the bike. I bought the foam from Guts racing and it was supposed to be the soft foam but right now its pretty firm. I guess over time it will soften up.

The red fuel cap, chain, drive sprockets and other accents certainly add just the right amount of subtle embellishments to tie the whole bike together.
