Restoration

Hello Folks,

Recently dug out of the shed my 06 Lifan GY200. Looking to get it back into service. Trying to determine if the new breed of 200 cc bikes are still based on the same frame and steering head components , and anything else for that matter. I know the fluff stuff has changed, but if one were to strip each bike down to the frame would they still be similar.? If the possibility exists to obtain necessary substitute replacement parts it could be a fun project and the engine still fires up and the frame is solid as are the brake components and wiring. The plastics are shot but I am not concerned about that as a generic headlight assembly can cover that as well as XR200 side plastics.

thanks in advance
KF

An 06 GY200 should be pretty generic. About the only things that were different were the plastics around the tank. Most of the fenders, etc...were pretty much the same.
Sounds like the bones are good though. Should be a nice project!
