break in over?

Well guys, I have babied this thing for the last 500 units(miles) and the oil is looking dark. I started out with t4. Do you think it would be okay to switch to the t6 now? I figure it is, but I would rather ask experts. Also, you never know if this thread could answer a question someone else is too shy to ask. Thanks.

Wait till 1,000 miles to switch to T6. Go ahead and do an oil change and use the T4 again. The general recommendation for the CG250 engines is to wait to switch to synthetic until after 1,000 miles. If you ride your Hawk at a generally higher RPM range, I'd recommend changing your oil every 500 miles as this thing doesn't have a true oil filter and only takes 1 quart of oil per oil change.

These engines are not fussy. If you feel like its oil change time with a 500mile break in then go for it...

just drain the oil when its hot/running temp.

t4/t6 idk

Im using diesel engine oil for my van which is motorcycle wet clutch safe. 15-40.

Engine oils are always a hot debate topic.
I go by the cheap oil changed on time/more often mantra.

Some prefer to pay a premium and extend change intervals.

Paying a premium and changing oil everytime the wind changes is just pouring $ to the petroleum gods.

If you bought a gallon of T4, may as well use it. I never have made a point to abuse these bikes, but I also never have really babied them on break in. It's hard to run them on main roads, and not have them at between 6,000, and 7,000 rpm the whole stretch. . I just put T6 in my Hawk for the first time a few days ago.

I ran my bike for 500 actual miles on T4 and then switched to T6 15w40 and have been running it ever since. The majority of the break in is done at 500 miles, and if you don't have a good ring seal by then you have bigger issues.

it will turn into a Ducati if you use only cold pressed extra-virgin olive oil.

500 showing in your stock odometer would, most likely be 500 kilometers, equal to 300 miles.

That's why I call them units. A dude on YouTube with the same bike did a bunch of measurements, and it turns out they are somewhere between kilometers and miles. At first, he suspected nautical miles, I guess. I want to say the ratio he came up with was about 1 mile = 1.35 units. So...that would be about 370 miles. Maybe I will use the t4 one more time. I was sort of anal about oil changing on my gy 5...did it every 500 miles (units), give or take, but usually just used the cheapest wet clutch compatible oil I could find. This was in 2008-09. Anyway, in all seriousness, thanks for the help, fellas.

I don't know how well it will protect the engine, but this coconut oil smells amazing when the motor is running! wow!
