I got the same carb on the way from Tonga! Im pissed that Amazon didn't disclose the amount of time it would take to arrive.
Is there a way to remove the cat without having to cut and reweld the pipe? Im having problems finding someone that will Tig weld for cheap since its alum.

The stock exhaust on the hawk is steel not aluminum.

Yep, not aluminum, and find a welding shop that has a heli-arc outfit. Nothing else will weld this low carbon crap (not proper welds, anyway).

I made me a motorcycle jack out of a old scissors jack that had been sitting in the garage for years it was the only thing left that was any good after a 15yr old kid stole my ranger and made it two feet shorter lol.

Good idea. I repurposed a hydraulic floor jack and did something similar with angle iron.

I have the VM26 Mikuni carburetor on the hawk now 110 main jet middle needle position
1 1/2 on the mixture screw what a difference no more riding around half choked .
It starts and idles on full choke for 30 seconds then to half choke for about a minute
then your off and riding .
I still have the exhaust pop when decelerating but I think that's because the cat is still in the header pipe and is probably igniting the un-burned fuel.
Also changed out the rear knobby for a Shinko 700 4.60-18 it doesn't feel like i'm riding down railroad tracks anymore much smoother on the street .

I finely cut into the catalytic converter and pulled it out it was a bit of a pain but not too bad
I cut it open with a body grinder with a cut off wheel on it which made a rather wide cut and that made welding it back up a little ruff but i got it sealed backup, if I was to do it again and i'm not I would have made the side cuts with a hack saw thinner cut I'm not going to show the welds pretty ugly lol .
I used a hole saw on a drill press to cut through material that made it pretty ez to remove the cat.
I also cut the cap off the spark arrester while I was at it.
The bike seems to run smoother and has a little more power.

If you change the pilot jet to a 30, I think it will reduce the popping in the exhaust, as well as improving the performance up to 1/2 throttle...ARH
