Upper chain guard on dual sport.

Has anybody ran a dual sport or any other type of motorcycle without the top chain guard that's normaly mounted on the swingarm? If so did you come across any problems? Aside from that, all the other guards and guides are on there. I can't think of any reason why it would hurt, but thought I'd ask to see if anybody has had some experience with this.

I don't have any bags on the bike right now so I don't have to worry about straps or anything like that and I don't care if chain lube gets slung off and on my leg since chainsaws throw oil on me all the time.

One of the bolts came off my chain guard and the other one was extremely loose. Anyway I bought some new bolts and stripped both with a little 1/4" rachet.... 8O . I'm kinda used to working on semi's, chainsaws, and other things that you can get pretty rough with so I guess I forget how little it takes to overtighten aluminum threads........both times  I'm gonna re tap them so I can put the gaurd back on, but it's getting kinda late and I probably won't mess with it until next week, yet I still plan on riding the bike this week. Thanks.
