I think it is easier to install the windshield if you install the lowest bolts first. If necessary, install the windshield loosely before you install the headlight. Then it will be much easier to tighten the lowest bolts on the windshield.
I wasn't able to get my fingers behind the windshield to hold the nut, so I used a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the nut and then got the bolt started finger tight.

What happened to my oil?

When I got the new battery in, I started the engine for about 30 seconds. The oil in the sight glass went away, as expected. It's been 4 hours and nothing has drained back to the case. Did I do something wrong when I did the oil change? No leaks noted. I'll check again in the morning.

How much oil did you use to refill the engine? I suspect you will find the oil visible in the sight glass tomorrow morning. However, it is unusual that the oil didn't return to the sight glass within minutes.

I filled it to the full mark. If there is no oil indicated, I'll be calling CSC. Strange problem, indeed.

If you didn't measure the amount of oil, that's the problem. You didn't add enough oil to the engine. If you fill the oil to the proper level in the sight glass, then start the engine, the oil will be distributed to the nooks and crannies of the engine. Also, if you install a new oil filter, some of the oil will be distributed to that area. Therefore, you need to fill the oil to the appropriate level in the sight glass once again, run the engine, and keep doing so until the oil returns to the proper level in the sight glass within a few minutes of stopping the engine.

I simplify the process by measuring 1.7 quarts (55 ounces) of oil to add to the engine. Using this method, I know I have the correct quantity of oil. Of course, I verify the oil level is correct after running the engine, and checking the oil level in the sight glass.

Well, ok then. I'll be adding oil again tomorrow, but I believe I have around 1.5-1.7 in it now. If you dump all 55 ounces in, the oil will go above the fill line, correct?

Yes, the initial 55 ounces might fill the oil above the proper level in the sight glass. However, after you run the engine, and the oil is distributed throughout the nooks and crannies of the engine, the oil level will drop to the appropriate level in the sight glass.

Thanks for posting the good tip.

I made the mistake of installing the lowest bolts last, instead of first. I couldn't use needle nose pliers, or even a pair of tweezers to hold the nuts. Therefore, I had to resort to using a telescoping magnet to hold the nuts to get them started.

Install the lowest bolts of the windshield first.
