Bro-in-Law Rides!
Bro-in-Law dropped in from Calgary to attend a birthday party for a relative, and he stayed at my place. I had just finished putting Lifanda back together, and I had picked up a '98 XT350 for him a few months ago. Monday was a holiday for us in BC and the weather was perfect, so we got plates and insurance for the bikes. For those who're curious, it cost me $117.00 for three months of coverage on Lifanda, which does not include theft.
Bro-in-Law rode around the cul-de-sac across the street about ten times, then he hollered at me that we need to hit the road. He took to riding like a duck to a pond. We practiced on some local farm and mountain roads until he was familiar with the controls, and then we cruised away the afternoon. It was a great day!

BTW, Lifanda is still wearing the dirt from the awesome Bonneville adventure last year.

That is a nice looking XT350. Did I miss your report on that bike?
Please give my best regards to Brother Tom. He is a lot of fun.

I hadn't reported on the XT. Right after I picked it up, it went to my buddy's place for storage. Bro-in-Law intends to use it to learn how to ride, and to join us on DS adventures.

If you have time, please start a new thread, and post a few photographs of the XT350. From what I can see, the bike looks mint.

Will do. It really is, with only 12000km on it. My buddy and I had the tank off (so it could be stored indoors), and there isn't any rust underneath the tank at all. Lovely bike.

Nonsense! Bonneville dirt is earned. I only wish I had been able to ride it on the salt.

You might have brought back an invasive species from either Utah, or Idaho.

Weld washed about as often as I do. Big Gulp still has St Louis road salt on her from the day I picked it up. That is patina.

Sam didn't take Lifanda out on the salt flats. However, we took the Zong and my XR650L out on the Bonneville salt, and that stuff is nasty to remove when it melts on the exhaust system. It took several washings, and a bit of scrubbing, to finally remove it. Trust me, that Bonneville salt is much nastier than Saint Louis road salt.

I hadn't considered that. Good job you have a stainless header.

Yes, I have stainless steel, exhaust headers on all my bikes.

I've yet to find a SS header that will fit the Hondoids. I found one on a Gio 250, but the bend is wrong for the XR200-styled frames.
