Question About Seat Height and Sag

I have never ridden a motorcycle before, but I'm considering getting a Chinese bike. One thing I'm confused about is choosing a seat height. With dirt bikes, do you generally want to go with a seat height a little longer than your inseam, to account for suspension sag when you're sitting on it? I like the idea of being able to stand and have my butt slightly off the seat, but if I get a seat height low enough to do that, does it mean that, when seated, I risk sitting uncomfortably low?

Sorry if it's a silly n00b question; I have absolutely zero experience with motorcycles.

seat height

you feet should be either flat on th e ground or slightly arched... not on your tippy toes... there is no flat spots on the trails and you will tip over and smash the plastics .. usually a stick or gopher hole or such...

Ok, so you're saying err on the side of sitting too low. That makes sense. For a 30" inseam, how low of a seat would be TOO low though?

run by any dealership and sit on a few and ask their seat height when you find the right one.

I HAVE A 30" inseam and, for me, a bike with a 36" seat height with 4" of sag(4" seems to be the standard setting)puts me on the balls of my feet closer to being on my toes.
A 34" seat height @4" sag is perfect for me
