2020 Lifan Expect Mods

The first mods I did (about 10 days ago) was inspired by this youtube video - headlight bulb upgrade and a shifter upgrade.

Note: I did not opt for the same bulb as the video. I am sure it would have been very bright - however it's life was listed at only 60 hrs...


Valve Adjustment

With help form post here including Megadan comment regarding locating the "T" (Mister T) - I adjusted the valve. And consistent with every Lifan post if have seen - there was zero gap from the factory.

Looking for Mister "T" -











Next up - I plan on changing the front sprocket from 15 to 17 Teeth.

Presently I am at 25 miles. I have been keeping it mostly below 5k RPMS with a few exceptions into 6K RPM territory during break in.

So far I am very impressed with the Lifan Expect and look forward to getting it broke-in so I can stop pampering it.

EFI was important to me in my purchase. EFI engines - even small engines are far less prone to problems caused by alcohol in gas especially mixed with intermittent use.

Some here see it as just one more thing to go wrong or have concerns regarding reliability.

Only time will tell.

Remove that bulb you are going to melt the headlight housing. These type of headlights are not meant to use 60/55 w bulbs. They need to use 35/35 w bulbs.
Even when Honda, Yamaha, suzuki, Kawasaki use these this type of headlight assembly they use 35/35 w bulbs.

Get a good LED bulb. It will be brighter and put out way less heat than a standard bulb.

Indeed for these headlight housing is the ideal. Because 35/35 is just way too weak and using 50/65 either you melt the housing or the wiring will give up.

I was quickly looking thru Amazon for 9003 LED bulb that was 35 watts or less. Most of the listed are 55 to 60 watts or wattage not listed.

I am also concerned about size of bulb. There is very little "behind the headlight" room.

Here is one that is listed as 35 Watts however size behind the bulb is a concern:

Thank you both for your help. An over heated / distorted headlight would not have been good at all.

Jerry - I like the fit of the led bulb type you recommended. It is more true to form with the conventional bulbs form and size and more likely to fit in the confined space.

It may not matter however but I opted for the 30 Watt version of the same make as yours to be on the safe side. I figure 30 watts from an LED Bulb will be roughly 8 times brighter than a comparable halogen bulb.

Installed the Stonemen Full Exhaust. Since I had read up on the install and the challenges involved, i was well prepared to make it work. I didnt bother drilling the flange and instead used my angle grinder to notch out a section in the side of one of the holes. I then tightened the header section down into place, connected and lined up the center section and drilled a hole for the bolt to connect up.
Lastly, i used the grab rail point to insert the bolt with several washers added to make the final connection. I also had to bend the clutch bracket to allow it to move freely.
With the current setup, the mid-pipe is about 1 inch below the airbox and i will have to keep an eye on it to see if it gets impacted or not. I will also have to see about cutting off some of the license plate bracket as its touching the end of the pipe.
Oh and i'll have to buy a spark arrestor to be safe.
I am very happy with the results, i love the deep tone and dont find it to be too loud. It does pop a but on fast decel but nothing obnoxious and i dont mind it. Also, im super happy with the increased performance especially mid-range pull. From the seat of the pants feel, it feels like it increased power by at least 25% which might be in line with 3hp since its mated with airbox snorkel removed, 115 main jet, and NGK Iridium plug. Highly recommended and for $88 its a no brainer.. My last bike, just a slip-on would have set me back $500 and full exhaust a cool grand

- Changed the front and rear brake fluid.. was a simple task using my oil extractor
- attached stock heat shield to aftermarket exhaust to cover up the bluing of the header pipe

My upgrades to my csc tt 250

Installed some pro taper bars and pro taper clamps and got a rear rack for it and new grips!

After Wild Dog and JerryHawk250 pointed out the 55 watt bulb I installed in my Lifan Xpect could warp my headlight assembly - I installed a 30 watt led bulb.

It is every bit as bright or brighter then the 55 watt bulb and the light is placed better. The bulb fit fine in the headlight assembly however the back of the bulb was a hair wider than the plastic retainer. After a few minutes with a knife rounding out the round hole - all fit fine.

Well, i put two NGK spark plug stickers on it, thats about as far as i got before the wife started into nag mode. So yeah , lol.

I really enjoyed your comment. I smiled as remember a post from a few weeks ago from a guy who just ordered or received another motorcycle and was all excited. At the bottom of his post he lamented that now he was going to have to explain to his wife why they needed a 4th motorcycle.

I have since tried to find the post again but alas no joy.

I resemble such remarks at times....

New to all this. Bought a 2020 Brozz a couple of weeks ago. Been learning/riding on my personal property as I have no license yet. Odometer only reads 30 miles. Taking a class in December.

Chain was messy with mud and plant material. Cleaned with kerosene, oiled with Lucas 80w90.

Adjusted valve lashings to .003 in. There was no clearance from the factory. Hoping I did it right because it's pretty clicky now. "Seems" to run better I think. Don't really know because I've never taken it on the road.

Set the drive chain properly. It was too loose. This was the most annoying job.

I started the engine when I had it off the ground, I wanted to see it "idle" in 1st. Noticed that when I pulled the clutch the rear wheel would still keep spinning from the engine's power. So I adjusted the clutch cable as per a video I found on YouTube and it seems to be doing OK. (For those wondering since I'm new; no I didn't clean/lube the chain with the motor on.)

Then I rode it around the woods for about 20 minutes but then it started sprinkling :(
