Tao Tao Rhino clutch
Just got a Tao Tao Rhino 250. I swear the clutch is not engaging fully. You never feel a friction zone. It dies when you're going in reverse, even with it gunned. After the atv has been rode awhile you literally get stuck on flat ground. It just has no power to move from the start position.

Do all the wheels move freely when lifted off the ground? Clutch cable operating freely?

Have you changed out the original garbage oil for good stuff? No CB comes out of the crate perfectly and if you got it assembeled by a "dealer", odds are it's not right and many things, including cables and clutch, need setting and adjusting. Also, check all the motor mounts and every nut and bolt you can find.

One thing to check is the adjustment on the clutch cable by the clutch handle. I adjusted one of my 250e's and it made a HUGE difference. The clutch now literally starts letting out within a half an inch.
I had the same problem with my Rhino, would not go up a hill. Had to rev alot to get up the ramps to the trailer (low boy trailer about 18 inches off the ground and a 4 foot gate ramp, not very steep or long). Eventually the clutch quit working. Was only 2 months old. Took back where I bought it and the parts were under warranty but the labor was not. Cost me $200 plus 200 miles of travel to get it fixed. They tried to say I abused it. Since fixing it, it has been great. (I have found a new source for repairs) |
