Got the shocks reassembled. I'm pointing to spacers that I created by chopping up some thick tube I had laying around. The spacers are about 1/4" thick and are designed to add a little spring tension to the 40 year old springs. It's an experiment that's much cheaper than buying new shocks. It was easy to reassemble the shocks with the adjusters at the softest setting; hopefully they'll be decent when set to a firmer setting.

Upon priming the seat pan, more cracks were revealed around the pivot point mounts and strap mounts. I welded some washers in to strengthen those areas; that was a challenge on such a rotten pan. Most of the welds look like boogers and popcorn. After this pic was taken, I primed it again and then gave it three fat coats of Plasti-Dip.

My Community College Welding Instructor called ‘em grapes before he’d tell me to grind them off and try again.
