As far as why they put a 100 width tire when they state a 110... a 110/80-17 tire is a goofball size. A 100/80-17 is actually a more common size.

The good news is, there are other options for sizing out there. As far as dual sport tires, you could run a 4.6 x 17 front and a 5.10 x 17 rear. The Shinko 244 and 700 both come in these sizes and they easily meet the rim widths in question.

The only catch to these tires would be that they are a bit larger in diameter.
The rear isn't too much of an increase, A 5.10 x 17 is 25.6 vs the 130/80-17 at 25.2 - or 0.4" larger diameter. The front on the other hand is 1.46 inches larger in diameter than the 100/80-18, and .86 inches larger than the 110/80-18 size. Width for both should be fine. 5.10 width is more or less the same as a 130 tire and the 4.6 is only .33" wider total ( about 5/32nd wider per side) than a 110 width.

This is a DRZ Sumo with the 244's in the 5.10 x 17 and 4.6 x 17 sizes. I think it looks good personally, nice chunky tire setup

4.6 Size tires DO NOT fit into the Apollo db36, there is not enough clearance and the tires rub against the sides of the forks, atleast the Kenda branded ones with this being said I am going to move to a smaller rim and tire, a 19 inch front with a 1.6 inch rim instead of a fat 2.5 inch rim so that I have enough clearance my question is, is that safe and ok to run a 3 inch rear rim and a 1.6 inch front rim on a bike?

Not enough clearance I was so happy with this bike I thought it was a good bike until these stupid tires became a problem they have always been a problem, why in the actual fuck would they put such fat rims on these bikes, and not even that the hubs are to fat as well I see why they made the spacers different sizes, because if they were the same size there would not be enough clearance, the rotor bolts would hit the fork if the wheel was actually centered so these Chinese guys just off centered it resulting in my wheel being .5 inch closer to one fork than the other they did not need to make the hub this damn wide and they should have made the forks wider if they were going to , I am just going to get a 1.6 inch front rim and modify the brake bracket to work with the new sprocket so that my wheel can finally be centered like good bikes are.
