no-clutch shifts?

I upped my idle for cooler weather and for some reason my shifts became easier. In fact, I didn't bother with the clutch for upshifts (after 1st, of course). Is this an indication of a problem? Or is it not worth fussing about if the shifts are actually smooth (i.e. no grinding, etc.) and there's no slippage? Curious if anyone else has done this on their China bike or other bikes. I know I used to do it in my old Honda Civic.
