You could use some one inch seat foam to build out the front of the seat to make it follow the tank a little better. That is if the DR seat doesn't work out.

tank looks great and more capacity is always good: but i wonder how much space there is between tank at the lowest point and cylinder?

there is plenty of room... i will snap a pic of the space tonight... petcock is about 2 inches higher than the carb too...

You have it bolted at the back under the seat. Where else is it bolted? You have it resting on the rubber bumpers but no other attachment point other than the back (this is my understanding) . If it is just resting on the bumpers, wouldn't a twisting movement still be allowed it it is only bolted at the back. Not understanding. (Not a judgement of your work, this will make this very useful and looks better already!)

You are 100% correct. Two bolts at the back, and a very firm grip on the rubber pucks. That is all that suzuki used from the factory, so I figure its good enough for me....lol I can pick the whole front of the bike up off the groundby grabbing the front of the tank. ... it isn't going anuwhere...

So where do those "pucks" come from, is this something you just figured up? Or is this also a suzuki part?

I was unaware how suzuki does it.

The tank/seat business like you say is no big deal and probably can be amended easy enough.

the pucks are factory suzuki. maybe you can see the way the tank has indents/grabbers for the pucks in this pic? not the easiest to get st with the xamera...LOL. the dr frame would butt right up to the pucks and have studs for the pucks to sit on, instead of my threaded rod...

no problem! glad the pic helps! thinking back, I don't think I ever showed the underside of the tank.... also, I. order to do this mod you may or may not have noticed that the two rear threaded spots that secured the original tank shroud, along with the squareish strap steel that the back of the original tank t/ mounted on have been removed... otherwise they would hit the back of the tank and raise it too high and interfere with the seat position.

Great project, I too have been looking for increased fluid capacity! Hate planning rides around where the gas station is.

yeah... the whole reason I did it was because I was getting sick of having to stop for gas on my way to AND from work...LOL 35 mi commute one way, and only 2 gas stations the whole way, found out the hard way that if I didn't fill up on the way, I would be pushing about a mile on the way home...

How long did you make that thread rod? How did you secure the nut ends to the pucks? (Glue?)

I bought Emerikol DR tank so I will be following your plan.

if i recall correctly the threaded rod is roughly 3 3/4 inches long. i just kinda eyeballed it a 1/4 inch shorter than the tank tunnel is wide. the nuts i used (18mm flange nuts on an m12 rod...welll...bolt with the head cut off...free hardware leftovers from work...LOL) were large enough that the pucks slip fit right on the nuts, as they are somewhat soft rubber, and conformed over the nut's shape.

Update to this thread... found a free (just pay shipping) dr650 seat, got it today and if you have the dr tank conversion like i did if you move the bolt on seat mounts to the rear stud, it will bolt right up after pinching the dr seat flanges a bit closer together...
