The wheels and rear swingarm are weight that is not carried by the suspension ,which is what makes them unsprung weight ,basically you get no help with the weight of them from the suspension ,so you are carrying their total weight when you ride your bike .

yes, i get your point, but this was about losing weight, not keeping it. i compromised on the stock mirrors and the thick aluminium bashplate, coz they work really well. my air intake is finely tuned with a shroud over the unifilter on the VM28 flatslide, so no worries there.

now i think aluminium rims and maybe a different sidestand, coz the factory one is heavy...it works really well though...might just focus on the rims.

Ive got aluminum rims on my Basham and I wont go back to steel. I feel a BIG difference riding my bike. I bought both wheels with the right spokes installed for about $200 shipped.
