I paid $5 extra so I could get the LED bulb about two weeks earlier than if I had ordered it from China. Initially, eBay said I would have the bulb on Thursday, but I think I will be lucky to get it on Saturday. The bulb should arrive on Monday, at the latest. I am anxious to test it for fitment and performance on all three of my motorcycles, which employ three different reflectors.

i am loking at employing a pair of these in my aftermarket headlamp...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251561435636...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

the headlamp i have is this one... i would NOT reccomend it though, as within the first 2 hrs of use, the weak BA20D bulbs melted holes in the top of the reflectors... hence why i am looking at bulbs that have integrated reflectors... i have also thought of converting it to a projector style headlight, but that would take a good bit of fab work... and i dont even have the bike in the same state yet...

Here is an interesting video which shows the difference in brightness when a 9V dry cell is connected to an H4 haogen bulb, and the Nao LED bulb.

It's time for an update.

I received my LED headlight bulb two days ago. I was pleased to discover the bulb fits securely in the H6M bulb holder of my Honda CRF250X. However, I was disappointed to discover the bulb was too long; it pressed against the steering stem on the bike's frame. The problem is caused by the LED driver, which is 12mm wide, and mounted on the back of the bulb.

Since I got this bulb primarily for my CRF250X, I decided to see if I could shave an angle cut off the driver to make it fit. That didn't work.

Doing some more research, I discovered the newer version of the
Cyclops LED bulb has the driver separated from the bulb.

I found a 2-LED version of this bulb on eBay, but I want the brighter, 3-LED version of this bulb sold by Cyclops.

I originally though the fan was needed to cool the LED driver, but I now realize the fan is used to cool only the LEDs themselves, which transmit heat through the aluminum housing which extends out the back of the headlight assembly. Hence, the newer, Cyclops version of this LED bulb separates the driver from the bulb, which shortens its length.

Once I realized how the fan functions, I decided I could remove the driver from the back of the bulb, and tuck it above the headlight. I can cover the back of the fan with a thin piece of metal, or plastic, to protect the fan blades from catching a loose wire, et cetera.

Removing the LED driver, I test fitted the bulb once again, and verified I have clearance between the end of the bulb and the steering stem on the frame. In fact, after removing the driver, this bulb extends only 35 mm from the headlight assembly, while the newer, Cyclops version extends 38.5 mm. However, I did need to order another bulb, since I destroyed the LED driver on the first one.

HumanBeing, can I order a separate LED driver from Taobao? If so, I can salvage the first LED headlight. If not, I will at least have a spare LED assembly, which I can always transfer to the second LED driver.

The printed circuit board is buried in potting material; I'll never be able to dig it out. I now have a spare LED bulb, minus the driver.

I'm quite surprised to hear about the fan. I wonder if the fan plus the LED draws the same current as the stock headlight. Any thoughts?

The fan and LED draw less power, and produce more useful light, than a standard, H4 incandescent bulb.

That's good news. Since Lifanda has an aftermarket headlight that I mounted to a custom bracket, I should have plenty of room.
