I have never heard of CCM, but they have a good-looking line-up. Whose engines do they use?

CCM are (or were) quite big in the UK.

They used to make hand built bikes but more recently they use Suzuki power to make Enduro, Supermoto and Flat Track bikes. Previously using Rotax engines but now almost exclusively Suzuki DR engined 400's and 600's.

This 230 seems to be a chinese bike rebadged by CCM, looks similar to a bike posted here recently (I think it was in Aussie land - blue? can't remember the name tho). CCM claim the frame and parts other than the engine are made by them but looking at some of the recent 230 chinese bikes I think they are buying the bike from the East and charging £2k for it.

Is it worth it? Well, you can buy a nearly new DRZ 400 or XR so I think perhaps not. But then £2k in the UK is still cheap for a new bike, but thats still more then twice the price for the normal GY200's.

The 230 looks like this bike:

http://www.shineray.com.au/products.php?display=18

I had corresponded with Shineray several months back about bringing their bikes to the US. I had found the Australian Shineray site which shows the above bike, but when I sent the photo to the Shineray rep to find out the model, he stated that they don't make it. I didn't want to insult him by asking who did, but should have.

Perhaps it is made by the same company that manufactures the Hummer bike?

Culcune, they are probably made by the same company that makes the bike pobiker ordered, Zhejiang Xingyu.
The two first letters in the model name seems to represent the manufacturer:
LF=Lifan
QM=Qingqi
ZS=Zongshen
YY=Yiying
BT=Baotian
ST=Skyteam
and so on...

Since you buy so many bikes in US you can get rebadged model such as Tank, Roketa, Redcat for example.

I think that is what makes it simpler and more confusing at the same time. Many "brands" in the US are manufactured by either Zongshen or Lifan. The recent EPA (Environmental Protection Agency=emissions) and DOT (Department of Transportation=streetability) laws had something to do with the slowdown of multiple brands sending bikes here mainly due to costs. I think the company that has the manufacturer make their brand for them does have some say in a few bits and bobs.
