Hawk License Plate mount

OK all you hawksters... how pray-tell did you mount your license plate? The bolt holes don't line up with my newly minted VT plate so I tried to mount it with that bracket pinching it and that little hook thingy.... It was a little too loose for my liking.

I just elongated the slots on the bracket maybe an 1/8" on each side.

I seem to remember this issue coming up before. I can't remember if they just redrilled the holes in the mount, or bolted a piece of 1/8th inch aluminum over the whole mount, with holes drilled in the right places for the plate bolts to go.

Yep, that's how my buddy did it, even though I think it looks wonkey. I used the metal ties that came in the crate with black coating and twisted them tight with pliers.

I removed the bracket and drilled holes in the rear fender (left and right of the holes that went to the bracket) that line up with the license plate.

I just drilled the plastic next to the original holes and made sure a washer would prevent pull through. Easy peasy.

NY State License Plate

I did the same - drill new holes for my plate. I could do nothing with the original bracket.
